New week's releases should be up at http://www.piccadillyrecords.com at some point today, if they're not already - just choose a genre from left and click "magic mix" to stream excerpts from the new releases.
I'm listening to EARS WILL POP AND EYES WILL BLINK, the new album by Bodies Of Water. Very reminiscent of Polyphonic Spree in places. Apparently they're all terribly Christian, but I can't hear the words well enough to tell. "These Are The Eyes" is the standout so far -- slow to start, but by halfway through it's almost like a gospel call-and-response version of "Ça Plane Pour Moi..."
I'm currently finding Mindflayer, which defines it's self as "A Providence based post-apocalyptic tribal hardcore band." to be excessively charming. A lot of D&D references and all of that good stuff.
also been playing a lot of Lightning Bolt, which goes something like this. Very epic, fun Noise Rock.
Saw Eric McFadden perform yesterday, now currently rummaging through YouTube for videos, and gonna make a mad dash for the used cd shop later today. Nifty stuff in a Tom Waits-y kinda way....
MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD-merciless (pummeling NY metalcore) FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND-casually dressed and deep in conversation (poppy welsh wakeup tunes) LAWRENCE ARMS-apathy and exhaustion ( the sound of a three day bender, filtered through gainseville and chcago styled gritty poppunk) SPAZZ- la revancha AND crushkilldestroy (powerviolence whirlwinds of insanity) LINK 80- 17 reasons ( eastbay hardcore with some horns thrown in- not really ska though)
and my favorite thing of 2008...listening to the pouring rain at 4 am with my girlfriend ( i am a sappy romantic idiot, and i couldnt be happier about it)
Type O Negative - October Rust ISIS - Oceanic Miles Davis - Kind of Blue PJ Harvey - Rid of Me Swans - Sountracks for the Blind The Who - Live at Leeds Nuclear Rabbit - Intestinal Fortitude Pixies - Doolittle

Picked up the new Drive-By Truckers - pretty good on my first listen. Also, yesterday my ipod must've been dumped by its girlfriend or something. I hit shuffle and an hour later I'm drinking beer and thinking bourbon. "Children's Story" - Tom Waits. "I Shall Be Released" - The Band. "Jesus Doesn't Want me for a Sunbeam" - Nirvana. "You can't put your arms around a memory - live" - Johnny Thunders. "Borracho" - Mark Lanegan. "See you Later" - Elliot Smith. "Then a Big Boy Came and Knocked it all Down" Television Personalites. "No Surprises" Radiohead. "Pain in my Heart" - Otis Redding. "Slylvia Plath" - Ryan Adams. "Do you Realize??" - Flaming Lips. "Poison' - Neva Dinova. "Things Grandchildren Should Know" - Eels. ALL INAFUCKINROW. Did the last ipod update include depressionware? Listened to The Bar-Kays then the Stooges entire Raw Power pep up.
