   @ infomancer - I'm digging the new AIC record... it sounds a little weird to me because there are songs that would fit on their previous albums, but instead they're all on this new disc. Almost like unreleased songs off Facelift, Dirt, Jar of Flies, and "Tripod" all on one cd. Jerry Cantrell sings a lot more on the album than I thought he would too, not that I mind. The harmonies, which I thought would sound forced, sound incredibly similar to Layne/Jerry dynamic... it's a solid album in my opinion.

   I'm inclined to agree. There aren't any songs that really seem to struggle, at least at first listen. Plus I guess most of the singles from the self-titled record had Cantrell singing lead. It just feels weird to be nodding along and suddenly remember that it isn't Layne singing.

    I’ve also been listening to the new Mute Math. So far I’m liking it, with the one exception being “Lost Year.” Maybe I just need to listen to it a bit more, but upon first play through it sounded on the bland side, like it was an afterthought. Especially when compared to what follows. “Burden” is just awesome.

    I've been listening to the new Faith and the Muse single I got from DragonCon. Their show was fantastic, although it was far from a perfect performance. They have a new CD coming out the end of the month I understand. If you aren't familiar with their work they sometimes fit the Projekt Records label style. I would probably describe them as a goth rock version of Dead Can Dance who is obsessed with faerytale folklore like Mignola.

    Can't say I'm all that surprised. I've seen the reformed AIC, plus Jerry Cantrell quite a few times, and so far I haven't seen much more to William DuVall beyond his Layne impersonation. If he adds something of his own, more power to him. If not, I don't see the point.
