This weekend, in a bat cave near Ottawa ....

    cave_music

Performers Katelyn Clark and Xenia Pestova will play multiple toy pianos and portable percussion instruments, placed strategically throughout the cave’s winding passages. Canadian Music Centre Associate Composer Erik Ross will provide an electroacoustic soundscape, which will be played back by loudspeakers, creating an intricate sonic tapestry.

I've got a bit more of that press release (along with the above details) posted up over here.

oldhat Aww... damn. I don't suppose the train is any cheaper? I mean it usually isn't but once in a while there's a deal.

V: Nope. About $200 for a round trip. Ah well... here's hoping they do something like that in Toronto...maybe in the subway or something.

    Alas.
Well, I'll be sure to post the recordings after the fact so that you can at least get a hint of it.

    The event was really fun!
I was a very tired, happy, muddy photographer/videographer at the end of the day.
People seemed to really enjoy it.
It will be a while before we start in on creating the accompanying video, but when it happens I'll try to remember to post details here.

@Roo There are a few up on the CKS site. Hooray!

@oldhat I'm a few different things, really. I'm an artificial intelligence researcher who works in a lab that invents new electronic musical instruments. But I'm also a photographer. The videographer part is a recent development that grew out of necessity.
The photography is one of those things that started out as a hobby and then grew into a second life.
Scientist by day, photographer by night. Or something like that.
The thing I'm not is getting enough sleep.

I know what that can be like. I've just recently been getting in to somethin gof a "career" in new media marketing consultant, which sort of ties in to the videography and photography, but there's a bit more range in presntation which makes me happy enough. But yeah, I'm a ton of other things as well.

And your science job sounds absolutely amazing.

@oldhat Yeah. I think that's how it goes for our kind. :) And thanks. It is amazing; I love it.

Fractal I definitely will. It will be a while though. I won't have time to even start on the video editing for a month and a half. BUT I'll be sending all my footage to the composer and he will hopefully put together an initial short version.
Either way, I'll send it along to you as it happens.

I hope your launch went well this weekend.
I'm about to head over to your site and download the release! Hooray!
