Could you please invite me too?

EDIT- invite received - thanks Sean!

    @Louie Huwie - Invite sent.

With that, I'm temporarily out until I get the next batch.

If those requesting would be so kind to edit their request posts to indicate when they receive their invites, this will help streamline the process for those of us handing the invites out. It will also help us make sure that we don't miss people in the process.

I go an invite, thanks! If anyone could spare a moment to toss me in the direction of the WC wave?

Well, either google has me on a no-fly list, or I missed out on the first round of invites. If anybody has a spare they could toss to jonathan.leslie.harris@gmail, it would be most appreciated.

@internaut - this is exactly what I thought of when I first saw Wave in action.

Well, I've got a Wave account now. If only I knew how to do ... anything. I'm sure I'll figure it out and join the Whitechapel wave; I just want to express my thanks to Stygmata for the invite and state that I'll be browsing this thread when I get the chance to hand out invites of my own, to repay the favor.

    Ta for the invite.

@Dewey Decibel - LOL... well, I know I haven't sent one to you. Hopefully someone on here will catch you in short order when they get their (next round of) invites. However, I do know of at least one friend that I sent an invite to with my first batch that has yet to receive it, but who shows on my sent list. Given that most of my second batch of invites have already processed, we're not sure what's up with it. Given that, maybe there is some sort of no-fly list. I'm guessing it's a fluke for now, though.

@ZJVavrek - If you haven't figured out how to get to it, and nobody has added you yet, toss out your Wave address, I'll add you to the WC wave. (I tried using the wave iteration of your username here, but it's not showing on the search.)

@pico - No problem. Added you to the wave with the others here.

Might as well throw me onto the WC wave. I can't see to find it in the search, so add me, please. Should be ricks.and.leeches @

None of my real friends have it yet, and I don't have any invites to give out, so you bunch of misfits will have to do.

    ...loveable misfits, of course.

@Beth Wagner - Just for clarity, are you asking for a Wave invite, or do you already have Wave and you're just asking to be added to the discussion (in the case of the latter, I'd need a googlewave addy)?

@Alastair - I'll add you as soon as I'm able to. Right now, they've done something in the last day which is making it impossible for me to see my contacts in the contacts panel, or add contacts. Hopefully whatever that is will be fixed in the next day or two.

Hi, can you add me too?

@Alastair - I can toss you into the wave. I don't seem to have the same problems as Seanta.

    okay... but then what?

That, sir, is still an open question. :) And the answer is much the same as with Lotus Notes, Sharepoint, Groove, need to have a purpose to collaborate on. Think of it best as a cross between an email list, a BBS and a Tumblr, with fairly primitive privacy and access control tools, so don't put up a bunch of pr0n you suddenly wouldn't want all your contacts discovering until you've had a chance to figure out the sharing. Which is pretty much all or nothing currently - there's no moderation, anyone can edit anything, and it's all peer to peer.

One use I could think of would be to enhance and expand threads created on WC, for instance. Take one of the 'Movies to watch out for' threads, let's say. One could set up a Wave much easier than putting up a website, watch clips and comment on them in realtime or asynchronously, make lists of future movies to watch, add essays and commentary, etc etc.

Or more likely - let's suppose somebody put out a call for a short-term art project. WC with its centralization and linear form as a BBS makes a great place to put out the call, post samples and status updates -but the actual collaboration and work files need to go somewhere else. A Wave would be an ideal use there. You put out the call on WC, line up contributors, post the Wave address and folks then drop into the Wave, put up their work files, make comments and potentially edit and generate the project together in real-time.

One interesting if minor discovery - you can hotlink images straight out of a wave:

Strange. Try removing the capitalization on ZJV, maybe? Before the upper right corner switches to calling me by my given name (Something which I wish I could change), it shows my address, same username as gmail, same as here ('cept for the lack of capitals.)

I've been busy and will be busy for most of this week, though, so I doubt I'll have time to learn much about Wave until later.
