Can't we break the "no crying in Whitechapel" rule for the bikecopter? *sniffle*

I wonder if there's enough stuff around for KK to build another. Presuming she survives this crisis and there's enough "quiet" time for her to build one, of course. I'm sure she could improve on the original. In the grand tradition of tinkerers and engineers everywhere - mourn the loss and then remake it better!

I've run out of adjectives to describe the art and writing and all. You're stuck with "amazing".

Wow! Wow! Did I say Wow! F**k WOW! I'm trying to add drawing using the GIMP to my set of skills, and everytime I see Freak Angels I despair of ever being able to be that good! I LOVED this episode. I agree that he'd probably just shoot her in the head when she showed up to help. I bet even a Freak Angel can't heal a bullet to the head. (Which makes me sure he's not really trying to kill anyone.) The flip of perspective when KK slid (CRASHED) through the top of the roof was dizzying. You know I just don't have the vocabulary to describe how cool the art is to me. My heart raced! Otherwise, life not so good. Laid off again. Guess instead of being a KICK ASS WONDERFUL GENIUS C++ programmer I should have been learning Java and PHP. Not that I'm bitter. I can do anything, and my learning curve is seriously short, but resumes are getting a lot of "If we find anything you're an exact fit for we'll call you, don't submit again". I hate not working. That said, I'm having fun writing a self-help book. If only some wonderful publisher would give me an advance, financial terror wouldn't be haunting me so! Any one know of hiring being done in Silicon Valley anywhere patrick at dbp-consulting dot com please;) I WANT A STEAM HELICOPTER WITH MOTORCYCLE CONTROLS! Make KK make another please!

Who's KK talking to in the last frame? At first I though Arkady telepathically, but she's looking up toward the roof top. Mark, Luke, a pigeon, chunks of the steam-copter thinking about sliding down, the gutters who are thinking about bending/breaking/coming off? So the rain itself is actually pretty easy to do digitally. What is freaking me out is all the other water specific to particular people sliding, bashing, splashing--someone put a LOT of time into that--and it makes a huge difference, thank you. I think Kirk is just concentrating hard on not dying, and in shock. KKs got a head wound too, there's blood washing down her face in the first panel of page 6. I love the expression on her face there and in the top panel on page 4. I'd say broken pelvis after she took out the top of the roof hips first. Compare top and bottom panels on page 3--ow! Wow!!! The nutty perspective of KK on page two would take a MASTER to draw that well--KUDOS!!!! Plus there's a lot of the cool water stuff I was talking about before. So what does the copter use for fuel? Have we ever seen her fueling it with wood/coal/petrol? Some liquid tank got shot through, which could have been water for the boiler, but is there a risk of fire? I mean a STEAM ENGINE CRASHED TO PIECES ON A ROOFTOP!

So if she can create a shield powerful enough to stop explosions, why can't she do something to prevent herself from dying? For that matter, why didn't Kirk shield against the bullet? Or Mark shield when Kirk shot him twice?

@Henry -- Damn right! But--I think for most of them, a childhood of hiding created for them a worldview where it's very difficult for them to freely use/explore/master their abilities.

She's talking to the rain gutters that are currently pulling out from the eaves. You've never cursed an object before?

@rickiep00h -- I used to be a mechanic for ten years--my first career before I went to college. Some tight bolts absolutely will not break free unless you cuss at em--it's a well known fact of physics.

@phorgan I think that's a lame excuse. :P It would be one thing if just Arkkady could stop bullets, but I've had serious trouble with the drama lately when I think too hard about the powers they have. I could assume that Mark wasn't trying to break free because everyone else would telepathically overwhelm him immediately, but then he did break free and nothing happened.

Goddamn it... I love this series. I want more.

@phorgan1 - Exactly! Of course, sometimes you have to be careful how far you take it, or they'll break to spite you.

Because they have to think about it. They have to react and focus and actually do it. And these things have been happening too fast for them to react properly and in time.

@warren--I wonder how far into the future of the Freak Angels you've already scripted/understood/planned, and how much it's like when I'm writing a story and the characters just won't cooperate and a minor character insists on a major role, and someone I had plans for turns out to have plans for themselves, and someone I really like manages to insist on getting themselves killed? And surprisingly they turn out to have aspects to their powers, personalities, lifes, that I never knew about! I know writers go both ways, some are muchly more disciplined than I and have story arcs planned in detail long in advance and characters aren't allowed to deviate, and others (like myself) discover things as they write that changes the story entirely. Which are you?
