			100 years plus of science fiction and I don;t think anyone anticipated this:

COROT 7B is only about 1.6 million miles from it's sun - COROT 7.

It's a rocky planet like Earth (but much bigger) ...

			<![CDATA[100 years plus of science fiction and I don;t think anyone anticipated this:<br /><br />COROT 7B is only about 1.6 million miles from it's sun - COROT 7.<br /><br />It's a rocky planet like Earth (but much bigger) and it's so fucking hot on the surface of the planet that it <strong >vaporises </strong>rock.<br /><br />Which based on the computer models, then falls from the sky as pebbles. Since COROT 7B has one side which faces the sun constantly, I assume rock is constantly vaporising on the day side and condensing out around the terminator.<br /><br />So the whole planet must be constantly reforming. <br /><br /><a href="http://www.gizmag.com/exoplanet-rains-rocks/13034/" >link </a>]]>

			I wouldn't be surprised if Hal Clement had anticipated this. Several of his books featured big worlds with extreme conditions.

Close to Critical had a heavy-G world with a dense atmosphere such ...

			Presumably the surface underneath the vaporising rock is molten so it probably just flows continuously in and is replaced by rock which has precipitated out.

Fun thought, if you had a small enough ...
