COROT 7B is only about 1.6 million miles from it's sun - COROT 7.

It's a rocky planet like Earth (but much bigger) and it's so fucking hot on the surface of the planet that it vaporises rock.

Which based on the computer models, then falls from the sky as pebbles. Since COROT 7B has one side which faces the sun constantly, I assume rock is constantly vaporising on the day side and condensing out around the terminator.

So the whole planet must be constantly reforming.

Close to Critical had a heavy-G world with a dense atmosphere such that it was trivially easy for water to evaporate.
