I keep thinking there is a type of small cigar prominently smoked by one of the characters in Crooked Little Vein. I have never been benn able to successfully search out if this is true, or a hallucination. If a small cigar does figure in Crooked Little Vein, what is it, what is it called, can I have one?
I will gladly reread the book, if that's what it takes to get such a small cigar.
Do your neighbors know what you write for a living? If so, does this lead them to try and discuss it with you / run away from you / lead neighborhood watch patrols past your house at night?
What do you think is the future of comic book publishing?
Do you think that, like the book market, it will continue but stop blowing money on genres deemed unnecessary or too experimental? Or do you think it will go the other way and begin taking advantage of new media but making their collected works [read: trades/'absolute editions'/standalone experiments] bespoke objects? Or do you think it will plod along as is?

Hallucination.
As a man going through the first stage of male pattern baldness, Can you provide me with any secret remedies that might help slow down the process?
Nope. As soon as you're terminally uncomfortable with it, shave it the fuck off.
in the past i've read your reasons for not having done so but do ever regret not going the 2000AD route like so many of your UK contemporaries?
No. God, no. You should have heard the way they moaned and bitched about 2000, back in the day. I feel like I jumped past a lot of shit by avoiding 2000.
I do regret not being able to be on British newsstands in a weekly manner. That would have been nice. Doing that back in the 90s would have been, in a lot of ways, the last time there was a common culture in print, and that's always been mediated on a daily or weekly basis.
- How do you prepare for something like Astonishing X-Men? Lots of ploughing through old trades and seeing if the story can exist without upsetting the continuity police too much, or just a nod to past stories, and if they don't like it, fuck 'em?
"Nope. As soon as you're terminally uncomfortable with it, shave it the fuck off"
SIgh.
I was hoping someone would find a cure for baldness. But, as far as i know, this cure isn't even referenced in science fiction.
Well, at least i'll look forward to adding an elaborate tattoo after I shave.
Oh, almost forgot. I asked this question on the Gravel made into a movie thread. I figure it fits better here. Unless, you cant answer it, which is fine.
As excecutive producer of the Gravel movie, will you have a say in the decisions of production, casting, re writes, etc?
To keep family and business responsibilities at ease with each other has always been a strugle to me and I was wondering what you do to conciliate the two. Do your family keep up with what you do or they don't even know what you do for a living?
I know Stuart Immonen is probably very busy right now, but how are the odds looking for some new Nextwave? With all these dead superheros coming back to life, it sounds like the perfect moment to reintroduce Zombie Dirk Anger.
Also, has any porn company made a "Gozilla Bukkake" feature length film yet?
On a post a while back, you mentioned that you were working on an unannounced Marvel project with a notoriously slow artist. Does the secret artist happen to be Travis Charest?

Zero.

As you grow older are you becoming more health conscious? Folks your age dropping from heart attacks isn't that uncommon. All the drinking and boozing will catch up eventually, do you combat the bad stuff with a healthy diet?
Are you surprised you ended up where you are? Twenty years ago working strings of shit jobs probably didn't offer much insight into the future.
