    What're you listening to?

New week's releases are up at http://www.piccadillyrecords.com on Monday morning - just choose a genre from left and click "magic mix" to stream excerpts from the new releases.

Ariana usually swings by Largehearted Boy's Try it before you buy it posts on Tuesday mornings, too.

    Commence playlist speakage.

    1 Bvdub
    1 Kutomo
    3 Shackleton
    4 The Medusa Snare
    5 Ronen Givony

Pouring through a huge stack of cassettes from my high school years to get in the frame of mind to write some early 80's high school angst.
Songs flowing out of the speakers so far this morning:

GARY NUMAN: Down in the Park
BRUCE WOOLEY AND THE CAMERA CLUB: Pedestrian Walkway
HUMAN LEAGUE: The Black Hit Of Space

    J. GEILS BAND: Freeze Frame

I'd really like to spend some quality time with those guys' record collections...

Pretty much just keeping the two Fuck Buttons albums on repeat all day. I haven’t been this excited about music since I discovered Wagner. At some point I’ll want for melody and flip through Cure and Banshees stuff.

Downloaded Los Angeles by Flying Lotus yesterday. Instrumental Hip-Hop of a rather Warp-ed nature. Amazing.

Also going through Tri Repetae by Autechre. Another recent discovery.

Been listening to WILCO and ROBERTJOHNSON a whole lot.
And I just watched a documentary about THE CARPENTERS. Had no idea Karen was such a good drummer.

The new A Place To Bury Strangers ("Exploding Head") is very good.
Particularly for fans of Jesus And Mary Chain :).

And I discovered Fnessnej a couple of days ago :
    http://www.myspace.com/fnessnej
It sometimes sounds like Tortoise with a few guitars replaced by C64s. And it's very good, full of energy and of subtleties at the same time.
I haven't found their CD in any shop so far, I'll have to order this one.

    @Mercer

Flying Lotus is the shit. His Reset EP was a great sign of the things to come on Los Angeles. I'm also big on Clark's Turning Dragon and Prefuse 73's Preparations. That Clark album is filthy as fuck if you haven't heard it.

Seems I've found a new earworm today that I like:

    DJ Champion - No Heaven

Other songs I've found that have been on th brain the last few days include:

    Timo Maas - Caravan
    Juno Reactor - Swamp Thing
The Juliet Dagger - Our Lips Are Sealed
    Collide - White Rabbit
The Birthday Massacre - I Think We're Alone Now
The Dollyrots - Because I'm Awesome
Dead Soul Tribe - My Dying Wish

I think I'm going to experiment a bit and see if I can get a decent Pandora station via the combined seeding of Swamp Thing, Caravan, and No Heaven.
