I always feel a little weird making my own threads here, but since we're partly all here for a love of a comic you can read for free online...this seemed appropriate ^_^

So, once upon a time there was Dragon Heir, and a young girl who dreamed it up in her head. She decided to dive in and make a comic of her idea.....only she started it before she actually knew how to make comics ^_~
With much help from her Sweatdrop comrades she has managed to release 9 issues to date, and a Graphic Novel compiling the first 6 issues. The GN recently sold out (thank yoooooo) and the girl (okay, it was me) then realised to her horror that she may have to pay out to print it again - to print pages that were now rather OOOOOLLLLLLD.

So, I made a decision.

The first 5 issues are being entirely redrawn and, in some places, retold! This is Dragon Heir: Reborn. Much more as it should have been. It will join up with issue 6 and continue as normal from there. And best of all, you're going to be able to read it all online for free! I'll be printing a GN again when there's enough new content, but in the meantime, I'll be uploading 5 pages a week to my website - and you're all invited to come and read it! ^__^

New readers, this is you chance to start the story from the beginning. Older readers, this should be a pretty interesting change in some places.

For a while I had my husband join me on scripting the old version - so a lot of it was a collaborative effort, as I feel he has a more natural flair for dialogue than me...I love writing, but I find naturalistic dialogue tricky. He still helps out with proofing and some of the lines you'll see in this reborn section are still from his old scripts, but mostly this is me now. ^_^

I wrote and drew Violet back for the DFC, and found the dialogue easier in that...with Dragon Heir, I used to feel too much like I should lean towards 'epic speak', haha...when actually, it's not needed and makes the whole thing a little too pompous. So I think it can depend on the story you're tackling. As I said at the start - Reborn is basically me retelling and redrawing the first 5 issues' worth of the Dragon Heir story - giving it better foundations. I only ever intended to run the Reborn section as a webcomic originally, but have been convinced that I should continue posting up pages on my site. So, I'll continue to upload the story on my website, starting with issue 6 of the comic next week; but the pages from here on in will appear as they were originally printed as they move up to issue 9, the latest issue out through Sweatdrop.
The book containing issues 1-9 should hopefully be available this October and I really hope people are able to pick it up and get a proper feel for how these pages should flow.
You're obviously welcome to keep reading (I hope you do!), and I'll continue to update this thread...but I certainly wouldn't expect Warren and Ariana to keep me stickied, as I don't want to outstay my welcome. '^_^ I'm very grateful to them for offering me this spot and I love them muchly *hugs*

As to where Dragon Heir goes from here: Those of you who followed the San Diego announcements may know that I had a couple of biggies....they will undoubtably have some effect on Dragon Heir, which is frustrating, but - trust me - this story WILL be told! Out of sheer stubborness I've rejected offers on this title as I do want to keep it as my own self-indulgent joy. The entire story is written and ready to go, I just need the time to draw it, and that will get harder to find in the coming couple of years. I'll do what I can! But in the meantime, I really hope that people who've enjoyed my work here will keep an eye out for my other projects. ^_^
