> She can't get killed off, she's on a T-shirt, dammit!
This isn't Fables, it's Freakangels - I'm not sure popularity affects durability. Though if that were the case, (and if the fan groups affect anything) I think Arkady would have a surprising resilience to any sort of attack - and a very high drug tolerance.
>> KK is the character we opened with, she's been told by other characters... [snip]

She also has (best if said out loud)...
Lambeth-T.Ds.
Ugh, I'm so sorry for that one, but I couldn't help it.
This might be dementia setting in, but I've never once considered KK to be the MAIN character.
I don't see how this isn't the story about a GROUP of people, in some ways very much like a family, but never focusing on any single character in particular so much as the general assembly of that group.
Sure, KK is the first one we see ( immediately followed by Conner, who's been one of the 'quietest' of charcters so far ), but that hardly makes all this ABOUT her. When you consider Alice's role in fact, it's not even entirely about just the FreakAngels - it's just a story period.
I swear every Freakangel Friday is like getting a shiny new Xmas gift. Mind you, I put off reading it until this morning, but I still get Xmas morning tingles from this.
This week surpassed my usually high expectations.
Mark...finally. I got this leader, condescending type of vibe from him. Mostly from the way, Karl worded his idea, like he was expecting Mark to shoot it down like he was some poor misguided fool. The smile he gave Karl was patronizing. He seemed very calm, cool, and collected, like he was in control and on top of the situation (I got that from his body language and the track suit). He may not be the leader, but he seems assertive. I can see him raising a mini mind army, right under people's noses, he looks trustworthy (which is one of those things that makes me suspicious of such types).
I could be reading too much into that...oh well.
I found this all to be enlightening. I realize now that I love Connor because he reminds me of my brother and I always seem to have a soft spot for those skinny, endearing, gothy types..their like little black puppies. Also, if anything, I love Luke even more (the little snotty SOB), he looked like a boarding school kid in that suit (the kind that doesn't really give a shit about status quo)...it was sexy. I think Luke's right, Connor must have some other purpose besides recording everything, but it's a noble undertaking. Hopefully no one ever finds the book on what really happened...sure people will want to read that, but it would likely push them back into a defensive position against the world (which really can't take it).
Karl was such a cutie back then. It was nice to see him before he became the tin-foil guy. The Mohawk was hot.
Just to clear something up, the faint lines around the characters visible on one page (if anyone is seeing them on other pages, they're imagining them) are a mistake caused by me accidentally leaving my rough-sketch layer slightly visible before compiling and sending off the pages. Not meaningful at all I'm afraid.
@Mr Hex, if you're counting the minutes, that's fuck 10,080 times. @Quxotess - Haven't seen Pulp Fiction!!!! Fix that right away! Also--I don't see that the others so much see KK as a leader. It's more that she's going to do what she wants and it's not worth bucking her unless it's important. Besides, everyone loves her! I agree about the marketing though. @johnjones - Thanks, I'd completely forgotten about arse-eels. @rootfireember - Bike-ey-er! Yea! Much better than bikier. @Angelcleo - just the fact that you could read facial expressions and body language-what great art. Three cheers for Paul Duffield. Amazing that this is his first time doing a big task like this. He is a god among men. Also, I think that Conner's notebook will eventually be available at Avatar Press. Not till much later, but it will be there. I'll buy it. I will be a happy man. @Paul Duffield--as much as you'd like to clean it up, it would be cool if the faint lines around the characters on that one page made it into print in volume 4.
Still no black no chickenz shirt on Avatar. They have Volume three as Hardcover Dual Signed, Hard Cover, and TPB (Trade Paper Back?) Anyone know if there will be a dual signed/sketched this time? Anyone know if it's possible to for me to buy it and ship it around at my expense for additional signing by Alana and by Kate Brown the flattist and colorist? Or even better since I'm in the States and I'd assume would have to pay shipping to and from the UK twice, if I could pay for one to be bought in the UK, signed the extra times and shipped to me? Feel free to contact me, phorgan1 at yahoo dot com.
Wow, I'm pretty late to the game this week. Glad to finally meet Mark. I'm pretty sure Schrodinger's Kait will end up alive next week (or whenever the flashback is over). And holy crap, Mark is fucking CHARMING! I can see right away how troublesome he'll be. And how much sway he's got on Luke. And I still totally think he was boning KK. And even though I hate him still, and I've said this a thousand times, Luke is still my favourite.
I'll tell you what depressed me, though... NOT getting to see FAT CONNOR in this flashback! I'm dying!
@overand BWAHAHAHAHA! Lambeth-TDs! I have to use that term for all things in the slightest regard to that!
(Since some folks won't have seen my edit to the first post)
REMINDER: The next episode of FREAKANGELS will air, as usual, at noon in the UK. That just happens to be an hour later in the States than usual, since BST just ended, but DST is Sunday for us. Adjust your Friday morning ritual accordingly.
