My first thought was "Little Orphan Annie" with superpowers - but there was a better youngster who popped into the brainpan ... the below is a work in progress.
I've really enjoyed the rather diverse takes on this character from everyone so far. I hadn't done one of these in months, have to start making it a weekly habit.
@Sizer I must agree that picture looks REALLY clean in black and white, superb lines.
Yep @Paul, I must agree with Meatgun and the Boss. Your lines are deadly! I mean, your colour work is always magic, but Super Ann's lines are gorgeous enough on their own. Wicked thread so far this week folks!
I just came home from a killer screening of "Nosferatu" with live original music by the ever amazing Blue Dahlia, and then I get to read all these great comments. My evening is complete. Thanks all.
*poof* Great works this week!! Paulholden and Jurgan did a great opening. Farran, I loved that take of yours, she looks so graceful. VoxDoom's looks nice, reminds me of Maggie Sawyer. I really like Elliot Mears killbill-esque take. Meatgun: gooood!! JAckcrowder, hahaha! Man, that's a good one! Ix: amazing! Frequentcontributor ... WOW!! Nuff said! Absolutely wow! Aaand.. I, personally , think Paul Sizer's is, indeed, an amazing linework, but it'd be interestig to see it in colors, too!
Mine, then:
I still fail as an urban designer, lousy atempt at trying to pull a François Schuiten. Meee, too, will try to put some colors in it beffore weekend. Would that count as a "second submission"??!
What is it with all the rich black and white work thinking it needs color this week? frequentcontributor, Paul Sizer, and now JP Stargazer. Lovely stuff, and even when I'm done looking at the image I still enjoy taking in the linework.
Other favorites- Ix and Meatgun. Plus I laugh every time I see Ken Miller's poor confused bull.
I do so love coloring pieces.... Would either of you (sizer and stargazer) mind my trying my hand at coloring your pieces??? They are so much more detailed than what I am used to and would be a great exercise.
I always love these threads, and everyone has done something fun and/or great, but damn JP!! That's just effing awesome! My favorite of the remodel/remakes in the few months I've been following.
@Paul Sizer. Tremendous. I always love seeing your stuff in b&w. @Stargazer. I'm glad I don't suffer from vertigo, excellent work. @Frequentcontributor. That's inspired and borderline psychotic, fantastic.
@stsparky - Has the hermit suffered from a stroke? The way he holds his arm makes it look that way.
@shetland - The squat hermit in the welding mask is really funny!
@Amalgamated Biscuit - Nice one.
@JP Stargazer - This is one great illustration. The almost insectoid face-mask and some of the almost organic-looking elements make the drawing very intriguing.
