    @Ken Miller Odin the hermit was checking a stopwatch regarding Ann's speed/progress. Thought she'd be interesting with Ainu tattoos, but simply settled on the spoon the women culturally use instead of chopsticks.

    sebfowler - I dig the gimpy alien hermit.

    DBed - Gorgeous comic cover, man. I love the crystal and the way it lights Ann's face.

    MrSmite - Wow. That is a stupendously wonderful looking piece of art and type, MrSmite!

    Thanks, Ken! I'm quite jealous of your mad colouring skills. Your piece has a brilliant sense of balance with Ann being the only force that stands between the gigantic missiles and the unbalanced ground. It could almost be an innovative book cover.

    I like the calm and casual pose used in MrSmite's piece, as well as his remembering that purple & green are complimentary colours.

    I'm loving some of the interpretations so far, I hope to do something at some point, I have a wee question though, what's a 'pen-portrait'?

    Also, I did a tiny bit of research and thought people might like to see the actual origin story of Super-Ann taken from Amazing Man Comics #24. She appears with Mighty-Man and apparently the comic is copyright free and downloadable from here http://goldenagecomics.co.uk/index.php?dlid=3609.

    I'm very sorry if I've broken any rules, I couldn't see any that I've broken.

    Thanks for the kind words @sebflower and @KenMiller =) I Hope there are more of these remake/remodel threads coming up because it's really awesome to see a lot of what others put up and I know I can definitely learn and pick up stuff from here and there and improve myself. You guys are definitely a talented lot here.

    @Miranda: What I meant was that it was such an extreme down angle shot that I had to figure out where my "camera" was. Once I did, BANG, great shot! My only suggestion might be to make the foreground figure lines a little heavier, and decrease the line weight ratios in the distance, just to emphasize the aerial perspective a bit. But truthfully, that's a very small suggestion.

    @shyguyshea: Be brave. Don't forget that you can post work in the Artist's thread, if you're not already.

    @Spinnerin: That reminds me of some sort of editorial illustration. Very nice.

    @EaselFish: I was actually set on using the gold & purples as complimentary colors. The greens & browns (which are really orange) are tertiaries of the yellow, which means they'll interact noticeably with the purple (forget the proper terminology for that). The blue in the hair and the red in the tattoo I'm less pleased with, but altering them might make the image a little too monotone, and the high-saturation in the blue hair helps draw attention to the face. The whole piece was produced in the midst of a nasty head cold, so I really can't fess up to how much was design and how much was "okay, sure, that could work."

    @Ken Miller: Thanks...yeah, the type was a default font with default Warp settings...it was the last thing to go on.

    @Peter: Yeah, the pant/no pants thing was less apparent in the black and white version. I imagined that she was wearing a pair of longjohns with her snow suit that she now was growing out of, since my take on the character was that she'd been trapped in the cave for years.
