Shellac is Steve Albini's current/occasional band and these two were their first two 7" vinyl-only EPs. My record player is long dead but I still own those EPs. Had to resort to dubious means to get a copy to listen to. Albini could have my money a second time if he'd make them available again.
I lost track of Shellac after their first album, At Action Park, which is the most beautifully heavy piece of quality vinyl I own. I believe it's available as a cd, but it doesn't feature any of the tracks from those two EPs.

I'm completely unfamiliar the band and with the original Parades, so I can't say what adding a Chamber Orchestra did for it, except raise the pretentiousness quotient. I've got nothing against pretentiousness, but Rock (or post-rock) musicians messing with orchestras is an iffy proposition most of the time (gives some classical musicians work, at least).]]>
