You know, French musician, Serge Gainsbourg. One of his daughters is called Charlotte. You know her mother too.
Charlotte is a talented actress. She sometimes sings. Her last single was produced by Beck.
    You can download it here

She is also a pretty talented actress, and starred in Michel Gondry's "Le Science des Reves" a few years ago. Her last record, 5:55 was produced by Air and many of the songs were written by Jarvis Cocker. It's a good, ethereal pop record.

In the mood the last few days for something more difficult.

    Faust ( 1 , 4 and anything else I find )

    Autechre ( Draft 7:30 , Untilted )

Not always in the mood for Autechre but when the brain demands its synapses be snapped and twisted , no-one else
really does the job as well. Never quite understood the accusations aimed at them of being too academic or my mind
they're the opposite...sensual , direct and lacking in context. Pure mainline physical sensation.

Of course , next week I'll have forgotten this and will just hear them as being a godawful digital insect blur.

Just got myself a Copy of the BEAK> album yesterday. Featuring that guy from Portishead. Instrumental, electronic ... kind of krautrocky ... interesting!

Today I'm trying to reconcile myself to Rancid's Let The Domino's Fall, still really not too sure about it but I don't think I've given it enough of a chance.

And I like to play unsigned folks from Whitechapel and MySpace...

Airplay in Alaska won't bring you any more fame, but it makes me feel a bit more connected to the pulse of the outside world.

Shellac -Uranus EP and the Rude Gesture EP.

Shellac is Steve Albini's current/occasional band and these two were their first two 7" vinyl-only EPs. My record player is long dead but I still own those EPs. Had to resort to dubious means to get a copy to listen to. Albini could have my money a second time if he'd make them available again.

I lost track of Shellac after their first album, At Action Park, which is the most beautifully heavy piece of quality vinyl I own. I believe it's available as a cd, but it doesn't feature any of the tracks from those two EPs.

Best song on those two EPs is Wingwalker:

    "She Was a Wingwalker,
    Pitgirl of the Sky..."

Shrinebuilder (eh, it's not blowing my socks off, but it's pretty decent)

@jonlaidlow Love the first two Shellac eps !

Also listening to the Hyperdub 5 collection....Darkstar are particular faves , although I'm slowly starting to like Zomby. It's not really dubstep any more is it ?

Listening to Former Ghosts' ''In Earth's Palm''. Nika Roza sounds like reincarnated Siouxsie drowning in cement.
