Woo. Still getting over yesterday but looking forward to this. I hoist a strong mug of coffee to folks who made it to write-ins already. As I'm still feeling warm and fuzzy about last night maybe I should just recapitulate it as a scene...you know once I get the stomach settled down for good.

My goal is not to write a whole new novel, I'm afraid. But rather to finally finish off one I started a couple of years ago - basically to write the second half - and also get a rewrite underway. I also have a couple of short stories that absolutely need to get finished, no excuses. Then there are notes/essays for projects that are...sorta...stories but aren't text media, a little bit more theatre and um...other stuff. The daily word count goal will hopefully keep me on task.

Didn't get stuck into it yesterday (Nov 1st) because I was with the g/f all day, and that is generally quite counter-productive.

Hoping to get stuck into it tonight after work.

700 so far. Yeah, biatch. That's more than Graham Greene wrote most days, and look how far he got.

Went to the kick-off write-in at a local Panera's. I was there for about 3 hours and passed the 3000 mark, and now I'm at home continuing to write. So far so good.

So what genre's are people writing in this year? I'm working in "adventure" for lack of a better term.

I'm at 2620 words and on my third story concept. All part of the plan to dabble until something sticks. Definitely SF for the whole set, though.

I'll be attempting this for the first time ever... I've no clue what I'm doing, I'm wide eyed and frightened, but oh what a thrill

    ....

    Wait.

We're supposed to be writing NOW? I am way too hungover from Halloween. This is bullshit.

But seriously. I'm going to try and do it this time for reals, using a public domain thing to make it even easier for my addled brain sauces.

Also, thank you Warren for my new desktop.

So what genre's are people writing in this year?

I don't know what genre mine would be called, but the ideas I have so far are for a story that's half Death Sport and half American Psycho (though the violence will be mostly contained within the death sport half).

I guess it would have to be Science Fiction, but only in a rather loose sense.

I kind of have two conflicting ideas and settings going. They each are getting a few thousand words thus far. My biggest problem is I'm not thinking fiction much right now. I'm wanting to mess with Mag Cloud and work on filming. Though I figure if I spend a few hours each day working on creating SOMETHING it's a month well spent. Maybe I'll even hit the 50k word count.

Just started, 950 words so far, hopefully get another 2 or 3 hundred before I pass out from exhaustion. Steevo is my handle on the Nanowrimo site too for anyone interested. Just entered my first word count. God damn I write slowly. Maybe I'll spend six hours tomorrow and get the full 1700 for the day, heh. Jesus, starting the day after Halloween was unhelpful for my motivation.

I'm being Roque this year and letting the old account go by the wayside. encouragement would be lovely, as I'm attempting a new and frightening genre.

Hit 3400 by bed last night following a 3 1/2 hour group write in. Needed to get today's bunch out of the way too as I have class tonight. Will see what I can squeeze in during my lunch break and other, um, downtime.

So far I have a peak to aim for with a vague idea of the topography of the landscape between here and there, but that's about it. Going to need to find some way of either sleeping less or writing faster so I can get some exercise in while still making a 1700 daily target.

Luckily I have no life except for one weekend coming when Dubliners come to visit and pickle oursleves in fine malt so I have three weeks to be ahead of the curve.

Suppose I'm writing fantasy but mostly I'm using it as a bit of an outlet for my own sense of feeling a bit becalmed, frustrated and trapped in my current situation.

Didnt get time to start yesterday, so Ive managed 644 this morning before I go to work. I usual write horror, but Im going for Sci-Fi for this, kind Cyberpunky. My usernames NealTurner. I'm hoping to find an old laptop so I have something to tap away on while I'm on my lunch breaks.

@ roque: What's the genre? NaNoWriMo's the ideal thing to try something new, I think.

I've managed just over three thousand words so far. Aiming to get a lot closer to ten thousand today. I've decided to do horror this time around.

I got rid of a load of writing buddies from last year. A lot of people who didn't write anything then, or aren't participating this year. Anyone wants to add me I'm Will_Couper there too. Pretty easy.

Sitting at about 3000 words and doing Urban Fantasy.

I'm doing random chunks this year rather than a novel from finish to end. I figure doing bits as I think of the will stop the general need to kill all.

oh god, it's snuck up on me, I might go for 50,000 words of blogging over a month :D

Doing a science fiction tale for my first year on NaNo, and have a feeling it'll be sci-fi all the way if I choose to take part in future. Mind you, as I've been actually writing the thing, the story's been edging closer to a Swiftian-satire-come-comedy-of-manners. Interesting and frustrating in equal doses.

Had a blast writing yesterday, as it happens. Pretty much kept myself awake for an early morning start; kept adding text in between dozing off for a couple of hours at a time, gorging on the occasional pizza, and so on in that manner. Fuck you, biological clock.
Anyway, I'm down as 'dariobattisti' on there, if anyone fancies a visit.
