    We've all heard the idea, right?

    Giant glass structure traps air, heats it and sends it up a shaft in the middle to produce energy.

    The basic ideas been around thirty years or more and Enviromission has been claiming they're on the verge of commercializing it for about a decade.

    Now California utilities may be about to commission two power towers.

    Not the full-scale gigawatt version but 200-megawatt towers.
