    Have you come across any media recently (books, tv, comics, internet, you name it) that had you sit up and go, "damn, that's cool", that you'd like to suggest to us?


    man, the move has really killed me. recently: tripping back through los. bros hernandez, having finally summoned up the courage to introduce myself to them and get some books signed; going through Chaykin, from FLAGG! to BLACK KISS; Spain's TRASHMAN (thanks Warren); a lot of Picturebox stuff-- Multiforce, PowrMastrs. Simonson's ORION. David Peace books. Umm... yeah, i'm sort of going on fumes right now.

    Are there any genres or story-tropes that you've never had a chance to play with, but would like to in the near future?

    My question is about your (and your family's) very public activity on social networking like twitter, podcasts, flickr, blogs etc. It seems like a lot of your personal life is exposed and out there for anyone to consume. Was that a conscious decision for you and Kelly Sue to market yourselves and your work? Or are you both just comfortable sharing a lot of intimate life experiences that other creators would rather keep hidden? It's something that would make me nervous personally, given some of the scary interactions I've had at cons on the creator side of the table. Is this one of the reasons you use a pen name? Does it cause awkward social interactions when fans presume to "know" you from your online persona and approach you in real life?

    henry has grandparents and great grandparents and uncles and aunts and great uncles and great aunts and on and on and it's easier to have it out there than to ask sixty-four year olds to create private accounts on flickr or whatever to see pictures of their grandchild. if someone gets creepy we'll reevaluate. I'm reveal-too-little; kel's reveal-too-much (in fact, on the old WEF she was called TMI Girl), between the two of us, our families get to participate, however passively, in their grandchild growing up. that's what's most important.

    as time goes on, i expect i'll withdraw further. nothing i hate more than the sound of my own voice these days (he says on day one of a week-long q and a thread he himself requested).

    my surname: when MANTOOTH! came out as part of DOUBLE TAKE the only pre-awareness i had came from the WEF and SAVANT where i wrote under my login name, which was Matt Fraction, which was how a telemarketer mispronounced my name on the phone the night i signed up for the WEF. and there was very little marketing done on the book, as it was kirkman self publishing it basically, so i thought, well, fuck, the only way anybody knows is me is through that name, so stick with it. i regret it now, but it is what it is and really it's not that big a deal.

    awkward interactions are awkward interactions; whether its someone that thinks they know me online or someone that thinks they're the best X-Men writer that ever lived if only someone would just LISTEN to them, it's all the same. and very much in the minority of the minority of interaction experiences. people, by and large, are great, face to face. there's a reason why anonymous tough guys thrive on the internet, yknow?
