    EDIT of previous thread announcing the shortlisters: I was at the award ceremony with Kate last night, and she got it!! :) Serious congrats! Keep an eye out on her blog for news of Fish & Chocolate, the compilation of three short stories that she'll be using the money to develop

    Exciting news! This year, The Arts Foundation have chosen comics as one of the grants that they're awarding.

    This by itself is exciting enough, as it should help to further legitimise comics in the general public's eye, but to add to it, Freakangels colourist Kate Brown (who should by all rights be recognised for her own fantastic work as a comics writer/artist) has been shortlisted!

    You can find full details on the website for this year's Comica, which will be hosting a panel featuring the judges of the award Pat Mills, Posy Simmonds and Paul Gravett, along with the shortlisters, who will be presenting their work. Tickets are limited but free, so book soon!
