its hard for me to know, since the release dates on most records i buy are "whenever it comes back from the press and we get the covers printed". besides that, there is a rumor that the new MCR may be out before years end. i dont care how many people hate that band, they do what they do extremely well.
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Dig, Lazarus, Dig Death Cab for Cutie - Narrow Stairs Bauhaus - whatever it's called, I forgot, something like Walk Away White, I think?
Portishead My Bloody Valentine Cex (finishing up his cycle of tape only releases) Spirtualized Venetian Snares (nothing is mentioned yet but aaron funk never disappoints) Autechre (even if it went up on Bleep a few days ago)
DCFC - Narrow Stairs The Postal Service Ladytron My Morning Jacket - Evil Urges Hot Chip - Made In The Dark Goldfrapp - Seventh Tree What Made Milwaukee Famous - What Doesn't Kill Us Be Your Own Pet - Get Awkward Colin Meloy - Colin Meloy Sings Live! Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin - Pershing Franz Ferdinand The Faint Atmosphere - When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint that Shit Gold
Most of the things I'm excited about have already been mentioned...
Autechre Portishead Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds My Bloody Valentine Severed Heads -- (thanks for the heads up [pun intended], I didn't realize this was coming out] Bauhaus
...but also, a few others that haven't been mentioned:
Wire Forma Tadre -- (he just released an album for download but claims it's "not the real FT Album", rather insisting that the real thing will appear later this year) Haujobb -- (possibly their last-ever album, if they decide to release one at all?) Orphx Subheim Synnack Mlada Fronta The Retribution Gospel Choir Jarboe / The Sweetmeat Love & Holy Cult
...Oh, and I'm also pretty excited about my own album too, coming out in just a few days (on my birthday, coincidentally!):
Zeromancer is supposed to have an album coming out soon. That's been the case ever since I heard about them, really, but one is hopeful, as there's two singles from it floating around out there now.
Many have already been mentioned that I am eagerly anticipating (Be Your Own Pet, Portishead, Silver Mt Zion, Goldfrapp, Franz Ferdinand, Mastodon, etc.) but one that no one has listed, that maybe is the one I want the most right the f now, is Filter - Anthems for the Damned (silly title, but so was the name Army of Anyone). Patrick is saying it should land in April or May. I liked that Army of Anyone disc well enough, yet I never listen to it anymore, and when I would listening, I couldn't stop thinking about how I would rather have had a new Filter album instead. This one better melt my face or I will not be a happy camper.
It's funny how these days an album has barely been properly announced before it's leaked on the internet. I wonder if in future when more bands are just releasing their albums straight onto the internet that's the way it'll be, less of a waiting period in general. I don't know whether that would be good or bad. Slightly off topic but there you go.
God, I thought that Chinese Democracy came out last year finally... I had heard it was going to, I think it was even listed for pre-order on certain websites... but I'm not into Guns N Roses so I don't keep up with these things...
I have heard that there might possibly be a new release by Nine Inch Nails this year, be it and EP or an album, chances are we might not know too far in advance as he may go for the online approach and release it for download as soon as it's ready.
I saw Lanegan with Twilight Singers, and was unimpressed by both the show (that Dulli guys is a dick) and the EP they did together under that banner. So yeah, I'm not looking forward to the album.
I just wish Lanegan would stop stuffing around with collaborations and put out another album, Bubblegum is one of my all time favourites.
Bubblegum was great. I caught the Twilight Singers year before last and they were average, but when Lanegan took to the stage it was a different story. That guy is just plain menacing and he doesn't even fucking move. Saw Lanegan last year with Soulsavers, that was a decent colab but I'm ready for him fly solo again.
