Obtained: One new iPod Nano Obliged: To take a trip to NYC tomorrow Inevitable: Several hours on a plane, in airports and a hotel room Inconvenient: As a fogey of the oldish sort, I have mostly cds, with a very minimal mp3 library
The brief: I need to pick up a 4 day supply of new (to me at least) music to fill some enforced leisure. I am scouring the Weekly Listening Thread, Whitechapel Radio, and Warren's Jukeboxes Ancient and Modern...
But I know many of you either make music or are closely associated with people who do. I will spend money on your mp3s if they are purchasable online. Or if they are free, I will happily tip your website as I download them tonight, if a tip button presents itself.
I have just until about Midnight, Pacific Time, to fill up my waffer-like sound cracker.
I like many kinds of music; electronic, lyrical, Irish-punk, trip-hop, the weird... but really I'll give almost anything a try.
If you really like it, and can point me to a page (I'd prefer buying from anyplace other than iTunes, where possible, but I will bite the apple if I must) where I can get it, I will be much obliged to you for the goddam kindness.
My boyfriend has an EP up on bandcamp here. There's a bonus track for downloading it, and you can get it for free (w/ the option to pay what you want). I have a hard time describing his music... it's like it started out wanting to be industrial but kept getting lost along the way. Or something.
This place is great for exactly what you're doing. I've discovered a lot of music and books and comics and on and on... just from showing up here everyday. Good luck filling up your Nano!
Here's a bunch of Älymystö tunes available for download. I'd recommend heading straight for Atomgrad, which is up for download in its entirety. (It's available on a couple of web stores [and not just iTMS, either] as well, so if you want to toss some coin our way, you know. Not required, obviously.)
If you use firefox go download DownloadHelper and go to the 8tracks thread. It will allow you to download streaming mp3s.
Also I would download the latest shows that come out of radio station WMBR as they provide some amazing shows. Suggestions: The Intercontinental and Subject To Change
I obtained all of your music, and left monies. Where they were available, I bought albums from Amazon.
Except for you, Ryan Catcher - as your myspace page allows neither download nor donation - but I will listen to your two tracks on the wifi at my hotel tomorrow.
JonCarpenter - I loaded up on both you and Kemper Norton, thanks much! You did not leave a donation link, so I have all of your soundmakings for free. You should put up a paypal donation button.
I will let you all know what I liked when I've listened!
Missed the deadline, but we have an EP for free download at www.americans-uk.com , titled "I, Ape-Man." Fast-paced, garage punk, with some synth flare. But that's our old stuff. You can download MP3s or buy the CD from americans-uk.com of our full length, sci-fi rock epic album ROCKTRONIC, also available on Itunes: just type "Americans UK" into the Itunes search field!
Rock! Hope you check us out when you get back from NYC! We just played last Thursday in Brooklyn.
