Aside from the music played at the Sushi Bar where I now work ( yay money! ) I have been digging voraciously into the Time Has Told Me blog which puts rare and out of print folk vinyl up for download. Any steampunkers looking for a little more steam in their punk atmosphere would do well to check it out, plenty of old victorian folk songs about working in factories, etc.

Listening to a really nice little indie electro pop album called "Riemerling" by Me Succeeds. Don't know anything about them yet; a friend just sent me this link to download: ME SUCCEEDS

Kind of sounds like a more playful, lo-fi version of Postal Service, but with English as a second language. I like it muchly right now. Well worth the download.

Glad you liking MSAASS. A lot of people up here are genuinely puzzled as to why he released it (a) for free ("Why don´t you want to make money on it?") and (b) with no publicity ("Why aren´t you telling everyone about how great you are?"). But world of mouth is doing it all for him...

@Taphead & Nigredo - Thanks for listening ;-) (I'd like to be able to say that!)

I've gotta figure how to reach the vast and largely-imaginary radio audience that exists outside south-central Alaska. Whenever I do a show, I imagine everyone who has ever listened to the show to be listening then. That covers a lot of territory from Los Angeles to Alaska, and 1981 to today...(not to mention internationally scattered Whitechapel denizens). And I don't seem to be getting out of Alaska anytime soon. KEUL runs on a minuscule, all-volunteer budget that makes streaming difficult, and podcasting is a legal nightmare unless you license individual tracks or stick with creative commons material. The station has already had dealings with the FCC when it was busted as a pirate station several years back (and got an actual license due to community support).

So anyone know where I can post shows for streaming? Any sites ideal for that? Cheaply? (Streaming still avoids the legal pratfalls of podcasting - if I understand the law correctly).

Miracle Legion - Sounds so 80s, so good.
Chuck Prophet - New album is good, clicked after two listens.
The Flaming Lips - New album is AMAZING. More than enough to make me forget how lacklustre the last two were.
El-P - All his instrumental albums are just amazing to write to.
Themselves - Like someone turned hip-hop upside down and all the bits fell together in a very curious way.
Charlotte Hatherley - She's so amazing. Swoon.
Converge - New album is just the right combination of skull-crushing and disembowling for me.
Luke Haines - The first CD is growing on me, but the second CD which feels like something of an afterthought, is a creepy, sneering little masterpiece.
Richard Thompson - I found The Old Kit Bag, and turns out it's a really great album.
Mark Mulcahy - re: Miracle Legion. He's fantastic.

just got word some people i used to jam with on occasion have a new set of sounds out for consumption by people with taste who like free things. i immediately thought of you all.

they've got a sound that reminds me of the less abrasive parts of coil, throbbing gristle, skinny puppy and like that with some nice ambient stuff as well.

Meanwhile my part time editor has me reviewing this band. Its a pretty interesting premise. THE COMA CLUSTER

The Coma Cluster is a concept developed by the Icelandic artists Hallvardur Ásgeirsson and Siffvilnius, together with others scattered over several countries and continents, they've sculpted a vision from sound where we see a glimpse of our world from another point of view.

Went to see Kepi Ghoulie, Geoff Useless, and Courtney from NH/MA's The Lanterns play an acoustic show a couple days ago, so their music has been in heavy rotation around the house this week.

Kepi played a fantastic cover of 'A New England', to which I enthusiastically sang along.

From what I've heard, they don't anymore. It seems to be a lot of hipster kids and young punks. A friend pointed out they don't have the old school skinhead uniform anymore; they just look like a bunch of longhaired old guys, so the vibe isn't conducive to the knuckleheads coming out.
