Inspired by an article in NME (blurgh) the staff at my work are compiling our top 10 albums of the decade, and i thought it'd be fun to do here.
We're doing it one for each year, with no particular winner overall, but feel free to do just a straight top 10 or whatever.
anyhoo here's my list

My choices are pretty limited, as I don't actually have that much music, believe it or not. So, best albums I own from these years:
2000: Radiohead - Kid A
2001: Tool - Lateralus
2002: Bright Eyes - Lifted, or: The Story is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground
2003: A Perfect Circle - Thirteenth Step
2004: Mastodon - Leviathan
2005: Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth
2006: Muse - Black Holes and Revelations
2007: Type O Negative - Dead Again
2008: Amanda Palmer - Who Killed Amanda Palmer?
2009: Mastodon - Crack the Skye
2004-2008 were all pretty tight choices. AFP had to go up against Nick Cave, Beck, two NIN albums, and the new Metallica in 2008.
I might have to turn this into an 8tracks mix at some point. Though it would probably sound like most of my others... -

I could mention a ton more, but I'll leave it at this. I've tried to limit myself to one album per artist atleast. (Also, the hands down greatest thing to be released in 2008 was Magma - Studio Zünd, but seeing how that is a compilation, I left it out). -
2001 was probably my most difficult, but 04 and 06 were tough too.

@Alastair: A nice, small pub in the Netherlands, big glass of beer in my hand, Beehoover playing the Wake-Up Call for that day of the Roadburn Festival there (Roadburn's main location beeing few meters away from that pub) was one of the greatest moments I had in spring. Sorry to tell you. ;)

Nice one Alastair, I was going to post the very same thread after reading that god-fucking-awful list. 'Is This It' by the Strokes at #1 is just a testament to their dwindling readership (40,000-or-so and declining quickly).

@Zombi - I said "AFP" as in "Amanda Fucking Palmer", not "APC". 2008 was the year of Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!, which was a pretty good Nick Cave album.

2002 - Sigur Ros - ( ), 2003 - Mars Volta - Deloused... 2004 - Zero 7 - When it Falls, 2005 - Four Tet - Everything Ecstatic, 2007 - Jesu - Conqueror.
It physically hurt me to cut those down.
