Im very much enjoying the recent episodes, I love flashbacks! One thing I noticed, is Mark seems to be the more violent member of the group back in the day. He injures a soldier while everybody else simply puts up a shield. Thats not to say the rest of the group cant be violent. Jack hurts two soldiers quite badly after they attempt to shoot Sirkka, but its not quite the "head exploding" attack from Mark in the previous episode. And we all know from previous volumes KK and Caz can cause some serious damage when they want to. Luke has no problem using his powers against others, Sirkka has that massive gun on the roof, violence is part of Kait's job and Kirk & Karl were the ones who (unsuccessfuly) took out Mark. The only FA's Ive seen so far not to cause physical harm to another is Kady, Connor and Miki. Nobody seems to have thought much of my idea about the Freakangel's powers being God - like, but I'm still pondering on it. As I said before, there are 12 of them. Plus they are called "angels" Their powers are awsome, but not occult; (i.e. there are no mystic incantations or anything like that involved). They can see into other people's minds, (or souls if you like) and can do just about anything they want. All they lack is omniscience and wisdom.

But, this is all mere speculation which is enjoyable, but not as good as the real story!

Weather in Austin is being interesting. Wednesday (real wednesday) it was quite cold. Thursday (fake wednesday) was warm and humid. Today is the same with a slight chill breeze and a clarity to the air and light that's unique. Color's are popping like Provia transparency film from 10 years ago.

So today I've got to make pounds of mash taters for this girlscout thanksgiving dinner thing...I really really don't like socializing with the other parents. most people in this town don't like us very much because we owned a less than normal comic book store for about three years, and the regular townies were kinda afraid of us, or thought we were moral degenerates who would corrupt their children.
Also, yesterday the slum building in town where a bunch of my friends lived caught on fire and burnt to the ground. Weather here is freakishly gorgeous and wonderful. It's like the sunny Seattle of weather - and it's been the same for two weeks. We had snow. In October. And now people are complaining because it's starting to get a few degrees colder every morning, warming up to something lovely every afternoon. Nebraskans, I tell ya. And they've got a football game to get drunk and stupid over today.

Loving this flashback. An interesting feature is that the FAs have obviously not prepared for what has happened. They're all dressed in what I imagine were what they were stood up in when the hammer fell. Sirrka, for example, is wearing a flimsy blouse and tight skirt - not the best of outfits to wear on the run. They are presumably 17 years old (outliving the Children of The Midwich Cuckoos) and may have been at school/college when it all went pear shaped. I'd love a flashback to that point, but I can see where this is leading to - the moment when they decided to "change the rules". To me, a touching moment was to find that it was Arkady, of all people, who had the idea first ( http://www.freakangels.com/?p=60&page=6 ), not Mark.
