    dead things and old bottles

In my homemade lightbox. Teeny tiny bottle and seahorse.

Nice results, Katie. Mournful-looking dead seahorse, too :(

Is there a link to construction details of your lightbox setup, or did you just MacGuyver it?

This is basically what I did, but I used vellum instead of tissue paper. Also, I don't have fancy lights so I used an IKEA desk lamp and a projector.

    Thank you :)

no problem. I find this site useful for that sort of thing too.

    katie,

That's interesting stuff, and some nice inexpensive ways to add new tools to your armoury- very creative. I'm terrible at "craft" style stuff, mind, the king of wonkiness. However, plans are afoot to get my hands dirty this end, too. If there are any good results, doubtless they will be spammed fully.

Thanks. My GF and I had to help out in a "modeling emergency" - a last-minute documentation of a custom dress before it was delivered. I snapped this in the hallway of the studio.

Not sure about where I perhaps should crop bits out.

Rachael, the only bit I'd MAYBE crop out is the door frame on the far left. But even that's a big maybe. What a wonderful shot!

@Slick & Oldhat - thank you thank you. It's actually two shots merged in photoshop. I wish I'd framed them better, because the ceiling light in the kitchen was viewable in the single shot of the left side, but I had to lose it when I merged it with the right image because I didn't shoot it as high.

Here's another shot from Fox Fest. Too dark?

and, here's my uncle handing me what I call "Polish Sushi": kielbasa, pickle, horseradish

I wish it'd been more tightly focused, and evenly lit. I'd have taken it again, but he already was looking at me like I was crazy when I asked him to wait and let me take a picture.

I'll share some more shots, as I go through them. I finally got to use my bounce flash.

On the one hand I've been shooting some amazing shows where the stage was filled to bursting at all times:

    Le Fin

And on the other, I've just been walking around and shooting whatever catches my eye:

    straws

    Either way, it's fun.

Plus I finished my latest print project of my burlesque/cabaret photography, finally!

    Sparkles2

Have some morning sun refracting through the condensation on my window (it's still winter here).
I've been really slack and not got out and about with my camera in ages. Boo.

I finally got out with my camera yesterday at a marriage equality rally here in Hobart. I managed to grab a few good portraits before my battery died :)
