Commence playlist speakage.
Over the last 7 days I have apparently been listening to:
Sundog Peacehouse Philip Jeck Xela Simon James French beard closet Asobi Seksu Zola Jesus Segue The Great Valley Shackleton Prince Rama of Ayodhya Pyramids with Nadja Neu! Grouper
Ghostwitch Family Band - They've got about ten songs on their Myspace page and they're fucking good. Sounds like the Misfits if they came from the south.
Dear Landlord - Dream Homes - Took me a while to get my hands on this one. I love overly sincere punk like this.
Goatwhore - Carving Out The Eyes of God - Vicious.
Edited to add: Also listening to Scott H Biram, as suggested by lucien in the metal thread. Biram plays some excellent country and blues, with little touches of heavy music influence here and there. Good stuff.
Icelandic Bloodgroup - Dry Land : Their Second album. Very nice Electro pop. Here is the main track Morðingjarnir - Flóttin Mikil : Icelandic Punk music, altough they´ve become more Green Day and less Black Flag with this album Kimono- Easy Music for difficult People: Progressive Indie rock. Think the Young Knives after one too many Mid 70´s Rush albums
Non Icelandic Beak - Beak>: Got this album last week and it´s bloody brilliant. Geoff Barlow (Portishead) & 2 of his mates do Krautrock and post punk. Pissed Jeans- King Of Jeans : Scuzzy Noise rock Billy Bao- May 08 : More noise Primus - Suck on this: Hand´t heard this album in 15 years and managed to download a copy. Still sounds great.
Having only got one functional ear at the moment, due to ear surgery last week, and being away from home, I've been forced to listen to music through my Macbook's built in speakers, which isn't ideal, but hey. This is what I've been half-listening to:
Mary-Anne Hobbs - Evangeline Hyperdub - 5 Blood Red Shoes - Colours Fade Amanda Palmer - Who Killed Amanda Palmer? Mentaporta - Shelter From The Boomerangs Them Crooked Vultures - Them Crooked Vultures Telefon Tel Aviv - Immolate Yourself Various videogame soundtracks
Metric (oh yeah, Fantasies kicked in a big way) Karen Dalton Ulver (the ambient/soundtrack stuff) Cornelius Sonic Youth Fever Ray My Bloody Valentine Joensuu 1685 Kim Hiorthøy Erik Satie
The Company Band - The Company Band Led Zeppelin - III The Smashing Pumpkins - "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" and "Adore" Metallica - Master Of Puppets
Bauhaus - In a Flat Field / recent re-release box set. I had a copy on tape but this new edition is great. I have also found out that the record was recorded in a studio on the same road as my great uncle lives. When I was four I would go there at weekends not knowing who was no more than 100 metres away...
Nurse with Wound - Paranoid in Hi-Fi / NWW flashback cd for 99p.
Nurse with Wound - Space Music - finally arrived :)
Gong - You Acid Mothers Temple and the Cosmic Inferno - IAO chant from the Cosmic Inferno Acid Mothers Temple and the Cosmic Inferno - Starless and Bible Black Sabbath Kinski - Airs Above Your Station

and i'm playing a FREE show at the Horseshoe Tavern tonight in Toronto, so if you read this and yer in TO, come on down. there's four bands, and should be good... and it's FREE!!!
not listening to much new stuff these days, but...
jarboe -- mahakali: reiterating from the metal thread, but it's her most "accessible" but undiluted post-swans album, despite phil anselmo, and deserves a listen. coil -- the new backwards: reworked tracks from 1993 that still sound relevant. slim twig -- contempt: local guy who's billed as some sort of electro punk nick cave. i think he sounds like suicide on modern gear plus a guitar doing murder ballads; at least worth a listen. charles mingus presents charles mingus: because it's fucking insane. koch, studer, and schutz -- heavy cairo traffic: sounds about like you'd expect. peter murphy's carver combo -- murder of crows: yeah he's just doing tom waits, but the band is good and i can listen to twisted circus/cabaret music all night long.
