and the 1985 60 minutes episode on the many perils of d&d.

the ditko bit has a video with alan moore and mark millar if ditko isn't enough to spark interest.

@oddbill - dammit, I shoulda known really, first thing I thought when I saw it was: "Whitechapel will probably like this"... I only just updated flash after a week or so of beautiful, video-free internets peace, so I haven't watched all the clips in this thread yet. My egregious negligence, thanks for sparing me from the Vocabulash.

@citruscreed - I rarely wield the vocabulash, as it often stings the wielder just as harshly. I especially don't wield it here, as this place is like Bartertown. Last remnant of civilization in the post-nuclear waste. You have to leave your weapons at the door:

(Edited because timecode embedding doesn't seem to work here. Skip ahead to the 6:02 mark for the scene I'm trying to illustrate:)

...and it was a cool video anyway.

Being AIM friends with dorkmuffin has supplanted my need for this thread. If there's something I need to see, she magically knows what it is.

    Also, cute kitten videos.

@citruscreed - An incredible artist named Keith Thompson for a book named Leviathan, by Scott Westerfield. He's got some really stellar artwork on his site.

If I didn't have beef w/ Gibson Guitars (for hiring my boyfriend and then canning him, and a pretty huge chuck of other employees, just months after), this would be interesting.

This irritated me tremendously, and an annoyance shared is an annoyance squared. Reader comments for the epic win:
Lost in the Filth Simulacrum - Is 4chan the Future of Human Consciousness?
I think a direct correlation can be made, for instance, between the rise of social media and the fall of the economy.

right, sure. A direct correlation eh?
4chan is, I contend, the most interesting angle we have on the evolution of human consciousness. It is a shamanic experience, a bardo of becoming, where the soul is detached from the body, set free to wander in the wilderness of banality until it encounters the epic lulz of meeting itself...

    wilderness of banality? /irony?

    Letters of Note.

Interesting correspondence over the years, to or from folks like David Bowie, Andy Kauffman, and Edgar Allan Poe.

Includes a letter from J.D. Salinger explaining to a producer why he won't sell him the rights to Catcher in the Rye.

That is probably the most fucking pretentious thing I've ever seen written about 4chan. I FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU-d.

a nice little video, that shows one the country´s greatest minds in action.

Note, i saw the actual programme this comes from, "Fearne Cotton meets Peaches Geldof". Please don´t ask me why i watched it. But this is the episode where she tried to show how clever she was by trying to teach Quantum Mechanics to Fearne cotton! T´was a sight to behold...

The Press (or someone) also put out their best films (regular) of the decade... There Will Be Blood came in at number one.

    Thoughts?

Also, @taphead that game is awesome. AWESOME.
