I'm noooooot entirely sure this belongs here, but I've recently decided that I wanted to install Rainmeter. Then after about 6 hours of raging and fiddling I uninstalled it. Then I decided to stop being a baby and want to give it a try ._. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with it or knows how to noodle it into submission. Hope this is in the right place ><

EDIT: Not sleeping for the past 20 hours made me forget what that horrid thing was called. Apologies

I've used it a couple of times and it was pretty fun to mess around with! I wasn't able to do any fancy stuff, but I got the basics down and adjusted it to suit my desktop. A good tutorial helps, I find.

Maybe the lack of sleep is making it harder than it should be >< I got the feeds and fav apps working, now I'm going to kick it until it lets the downloads work

I used for it for long enough to know that by the time I finished UI-wanking my desktop into submission, the only way to stop drooling at it and wanting to know why all the little meters wouldn't do my work for me, and actually do some work was to uninstall the bloody thing and then do it. So not for me then.

However, they have improved their documentation at http://rainmeter.net/RainCMS/ a lot recently and the basic enigma desktop config files are there for you to muck around with ad infinitum. For me at least, Rainmeter was a case of knowing what I wanted up there initially and then figuring out how to make it so rather than improvising as I went along.
