I think it was looking up the Warren Ellis bibliography wiki and going "hey here's one I don't have to track down the trades of!", but it's possible Texture had chewed my ear off about it for long enough I started paying attention.
I was following Paul on DA, not entirely sure why but possibly because 'Spoonbard' reminded me of spoongaurd, or more accurately: SPOOOOOOOOONNNNGAAAAAUURRRRDDD Would have spotted it in Dave's Comics eventually, glad I found FA earlyish though.
long lost high school chum thought i'd dig Transmet. I started surfing for more info on Warren, and found this place. the promos were gorgeous, but i stuck around for the conversations and level of awareness of the world. and then FA actually started. and that was a good day. and now, people owe me beers for telling them about it, too. win.
For me it was (as is so often the case) serendipitous link-to-link browsage, wasting time in the way the Good Lord intended. I find so many wonderful things that way; my bookmark tab has been worn to a virtual nubbin. (Snx snx.) Freakangels is a particular wonderment, in that its quality just keeps on rising. IMVHO, FA will be the standard by which webcomics are measured, and I'm delighted to have been in the bleachers since episode one. Happy 2010, everybody.
They were talking it up on coilhouse.net before the first episode was even out. I actually had not heard of Mr. Ellis way back when, if you can imagine.
