I first heard about it at Comic Con at Warren Ellis' panel. I didn't really here any details about it there unfortunately, then later some fan of FreakAngels was flaming this other web comic saying it sucked and said he wished more stuff was like FreakAngels then gave a link for the comic here. I followed that link and I read everything. My thoughts being, "Yeah, this is good."
I discovered it after starting my own serialised dramatic webcomics. For all I knew at the time it was an entirely new approach I'd invented. People soon set me straight, and FreakAngels was one of the first they set me straight to.
A friend of mine (really who I owe most of my online life to) used to have warrenellis.com as her home page in Firefox, and I kept getting interested by the random shit that came from there, so I went myself. Happened to be about two weeks before FA fired up. My interwubs life hasn't been the same since, really.
from the Warren Ellis web site..... Avoided it for ages....web comics scare me ...cracked ...read ...it from episode 1-83 today .... its fucking brilliant...feels like Wyndham meets love & rockets via Stand by me.. Just great nails in the seat entertainment.... love the art work too ...bad me web comics are good... look more....
A friend of mine gave the the url so I could check the teaser illustrations that were made before the webcomic started. I am totally hooked up since then.
I think I saw a banner advertising it on some other webcomic I regularly read, went over to the site and bookmarked it, but postponed reading the full archive until yesterday, when I had the time.
Aha, embarrassed to say I'm a Stumbler. Pressed the button and hey presto, up comes chapter 80. I then read every episode over a weekend from the beginning. Very impressed so far - on the lookout for books.
i saw an ad for it a year or two[?? could it be so long??] ago in the back of a (no doubt) Warren Ellis Avatar comic... no idea what it could have been, though...
