    Ahoy hoy everyone! As I mentioned over in the Artist's Thread, I launched a Kickstarter a few days ago.

    Steam in the Willows

    It's Wind in the Willows, it's Steampunky, it's highly detailed traditional art in several formats. I hope you enjoy it!

    Krista, after I hype my wife, I am racing to your site!

    Last four days of Jane's Kickstarter for CLOCKWORK GAME. We're over the goal, and more money = more cool things on the printing end.
    Thanks for all the signal boost we've gotten, it is much appreciated!

    Krista: Oh, you are SO backed by me. That looks AMAZING!

    There's still five days left on the Kickstarter for Demon: The Descent so you can get a Prestige edition book. While the funding goal has been reached, there's several stretch goals, including a third Demon Seed of adventures in a third city.

    So my theatre company is running our annual Son of Semele Ensemble fundraiser And I can't help but think that if we did it as a kickstarter people would be more likely to donate.

    Why? It's the same basic idea - we even made a cute video. Is it that we need more door prizes at lower giving levels? What if we made the fact that this is TAX-DEDUCTIBLE (and kickstarter isn't) more front and center? Is it being able to track the level of funding? Last I checked we were 30% to our goal, but if the public knew that would they be more likely to pitch in?

    There isn't very much that's different from a classic fund raiser like this and a Kickstarter, is there? It's just that kickstarter is sexier, trendier and generally considered to help individual projects on a smaller scale. [Incidentally, Kickstarter doesn't allow annual funds like this - their rules stipulate the funds have to be for a single project only, not ongoing organizational needs.]

    It's probably still tough to get people to donate to kickstarter projects, but I always see more excitement around those... Bummer because we really work our butts off throughout the year for our theatre. Then again people in general don't seem to give a flying ffff.... about theatre. Maybe we should create stickers and little comic books and other tchotchkes to give away.

    @razrangel, you're right, Kickstarters aren't easy.

    You might be better off investigating more open funding sites like indiegogo or gofundme, but an online event will likely generate interest from areas outside the normal areas.

    Hi guys,

    My name is Robert Solanovic and I'm the artist of a graphic novel called "Unfinished City" which we're trying to fund with the help of Kickstarter. The story is written by Benjamin Dickson and Silvija Martinovic and it's a crime/drama set in Montenegro, in the Balkans. The comic book is a real labour of love and if you're interested you can check out the preview with first 20 pages in pdf format on our Kickstarter page right here. If you know anyone that'd be interested in this project please feel free to share this link.

    Thanks!

    Bit of Kickstarter news. 21st Century Tank Girl, with Hewlett on board, fully funded in less than 48 hours. Always had a soft spot for Tank Girl, owning a full run of Deadline,so really interested to see how this turns out.

    The Kickstarter for Smut Peddler 2014 has lauched today, and it looks like it'll reach 100% before the end of the day...

    Just plugging something for people that are interested in running Kickstarter campaigns. Timo Vuorensola, the director of Iron Sky that was quite successful in the crowdfunding thing, has a new company that amongst other thing specializes in running, managing and promoting crowdfunding campaigns. Check the company Spaceboy's FB page and Indiegogo page.
