    Not sure if this is even the right area for this but it fits with the "Make Something" meme that's been so prominent here lately.

    Techshop is a co-operatively owned work space where members can access tools ranging from hand tools to lathes to CNC machines.

    There are also courses in how to use the different machines.

    Now personally I got 16% in Metalwork and 18% in Woodwork so it would be much use to me personally but I think this is a great idea.

    it'd be particularly great to see some of these in Africa and Sotuh Asia where the access to these tools is probably lwest and the need is probably greatest.

    There are similar (but less technically advanced) facilities in Australia called "community sheds".

    That looks really cool. I've been thinking of trying to build a new cage for my snake, and something like that would be quite useful.

    As for the developing nations bit - that'd be a pretty great project for an organization like Kiva to start.
