MrSmite: That's awesome! I like the samurai spinning-top-thing. And a skirt AND pants? Very daring.

@ jackcrowder: Nice to see you back and great entry. I like the colors.
    @ MrSmite: Hah! Choices... choices...

DBed: That's a great concept. Great new costume that ties well into the name, a really cool update of Dusty, and you can really get a feel for the whole "world" from that one picture. FTW. (And I love the protest sign that is a barcode...)

    @# frequentcontributor, jackcrowder: Thanks!

@DBed: You always have great Remake/Remodels, but this one's really slamming it home. Not only have you managed to refurbish nearly every piece of information given on the subject, but in a compelling and appealing way. But the knockout is incorporating the atom design to read as insect wings. Sadly the bar code doesn't resize well. Did you use a barcode generator for it? Dare I ask what it says?

    Jeez...
    Photobucket
So this was a pain in the ass because I have been wanting to make my drawings suitable for print, etc., if I ever want to do anything with them, and so this was a HUGE drawing that slowed my computer down to a crawl and took FOREVER to color (mostly waiting while stuff froze up...). So this is a cropped and resized version without some of the background gradients that I wanted (not enough memory to save???). I'm not sure about the engine lighting effects, so those will probably change before I do anything with it, and I may want to swap background colors, anyway...

Otherwise, I'm sort of happy with it. I just took out her entire reproductive system and replaced it with a rocket pack and stuff, so that's that...

    Hi there

I kinda focused on the time-travel thingie (again) and the armpits and the "auxilliary atomic fuel tank "...

Shniy, and the Jonathan Coulton reference is icing on the cake!

Wicked thread. DBed - that's funny, graphic and stunningly rendered.

Seemed to me to read like a young teen action book. Average boy goes into the future to be a hero with a hot crime fighter. So here's Dusty as the hero:

@ MrSmite: Sadly barcodes don't seem to resize/deform well... maybe if I used a vector program instead.... anyway, that sign says "Whitechapel", though feel free to read it as anything anti-human/pro-robot that you wish!

Loosely inspired by the original costume. I just HAD to find a way to keep the skirt, haha.
She runs on atomic fire, I guess?

Aurora Borealis: That's really funny. It's Lady Cannonball from the New Mutants/X-Force...

Yoav: Cool colors. Looks like a sketchy Dave Gibbons drawing, in a good way.

Brian le Golem: Ha! I love her pose. Reminds me of a Cherry Poptart comic.

Atoma uses her time bots to analyse the past, and documents it with her time pen on her time notepad, while travelling through time!
Dammit I should be working now.

    @DBed Awesome!

Crazy mix of ideas in here this week...cool work all around. I love these threads.

@ Yoav--Brilliant depth of focus effect and mischievious facial expression. I'm intrigued by his backstory what with the Maori tattoo and the metal plates in his head.
@ DBed--The atomic symbol wings are a stroke of genius.
@frequentcontributor-- That is disgustingly awesome. I had to laugh at the first line in your description: "So this was a pain in the ass." Sure looks painful! :) Really dig the stretchy stylized look--especially the arm/hands proportions. Awesome.

If whitechapel will indulge me, I'd like to tell you the story of the following images.

I recently discovered android jones' work and wanted to try out his groove. So I was playing with photochop brushes, using my own character for an upcoming zuda as a drawing-focus, and not really getting anywhere.
and then i read this a few hours ago.
she does wear EDF (electronic directional flight) control nylon-xenton wings which allow her to fly.
somehow this gave me a direction... and I came up with what you're about to see.

So it kinda belongs in this thread, i reckon. If anyone disagrees i'll gladly move it to the artists' thread.
    Thanks.
