What's your formal/informal religious background (like from childhood, family, et al.)
Dad was somewhere between agnostic and atheist, mum was as lazily CofE as any East End girl (gor blimey yes I believe in God/ wot, me go to church when there might be a film on the telly?).
Were Spider Jerusalem's glasses inspired by the bit in The Great Shark Hunt where Thompson says that he's "seeing square out of one eye and round out of the other" or am I into listening-to-Led-Zep-records-backwards territory?
You'd have to ask Darick, he came up with them as I recall.
I get the impression that established creators who hate everything they do within a week fall into two broad groups.
Passionate craftsmen/women with their ego in check, who are constantly striving to do better work.
OR
Innovators with an ideal in mind against which they measure all the work they have to do in order to satisfy an established market and pay the mortgage.
Occasionally a little of both.
I'm just curious to know what sort of project you would pursue if a wealthy patron gave you carte blanche. And would you still hate it a week later?
I'd like to echo the cries of thanks for hosting this, and pose one final question from me that I don't think has been asked yet. Maybe because it's too vague, I don't know, but regardless:
