Satan's Monk is playing a house show in Phoenix, AZ tomorrow night at The Tribe opening for the black metal bands Ashdautas, Volahn and Axe Man. It's only going to be our second show with the new line up, and our seventh show ever. I'm more and more excited about this band every day.
I am a sparetime Singer- Songwriter from Germany. The band is called Small Steps, doing something inbetween Indie Rock and folk. Some people seem to like my songs, others don`t. Pretty simple though.
The British Columbians are playing tomorrow (Thursday March 11th) at The Centre for Digital Media (577 Great Northern Way, Vancouver) [funny place to play for a band that uses as much old analogue stuff as our little hands can get] for only $5! Show starts at 11pm. We're the only band and we're gonna play for over an hour. Plus, we have our keyboard/guitar player back and two drummers!
My friend Adam recently started up a parody rap group called Sword of a Bad Speller. He made a Myspace page for it, but isn't really well versed in The Internets, so I offered to help promote him. Here's his page. He's got some pretty funny stuff.
I think there is but one Whitechapel-er within striking distance of this gig but, hey the gig is $1USD...That's almost free if you adjust for inflation, etc. Brothers Horse at Chrome Lotus in Santa Rosa, CA, USA. We're silly in a polka-rock kind of way.
I "know" Warren from subkultures.net, a once-lovely site that grew deserted and is now filled with dust bunnies and tumbleweeds. I am a film composer. I used to be a rock star, and a chorister, but I gave those all up for the studio and the dream of cinema. Here's my site:
The last movie I scored was an ambitious short called "Resonance", about a physicist who briefly escapes our 'false' universe, winds up in the pristine 'true' universe, and then comes back to bring his wife with him...tragedy ensues. The music was really fun to write.
Anyone that is into hip-hop, today's your lucky day. My netlabel just rleased a six-track EP (free as always) by Eaters. I'm absolutely stoked - they're one of my favourite bands, an Edinburgh outfit who've been going since 1997, and I've always really looked up to them. I'm very excited to be able to share their work with a new audience.
Their last album, Shouting at the Wind, was my favourite of 2009. Anyone who enjoyed that will absolutely love Bite Marks. Hope you guys enjoy it as much as I have been!
Thursday i play with Unreliable Narrator at Little Mountain Gallery for the event Fundraiser for Sheena's Dad - a woman who volunteers a lot on the downtown East side (a pretty rough place in Vancouver) and spends her life trying to make others better has a sick father, and all proceeds from the show go to help her. the others on the bill are Aunts and Uncles, Strike!, and James de Cosmos (of SSRIs). show at eight. five to ten sliding scale - no one will be turned away.
[of course, after i type all this, i wonder how many people actually read this and then how many of those folks are in Vancouver and would even entertain the thought of checking out any of this stuff... well, here's to hoping, i guess, yeah?]
The Nice Weather for Airstrikes Festival is on again this year, one of the final events of the Brighton Fringe Festival on over the 28th-31st May. Bringing some post-rock, shoegaze, math rock, acoustic and soundscapes to The Druids Arms, Ditchling Road.
