So, my boyfriend's band, Big House Radio, is finally playing in a place that's rather citified, Asheville NC, at its most appealing venue IMO, the Orange Peel. If anyone is even remotely from around there, they are having a gig due to the Contest 'The Last Band Standing', which will be a battle of the bands style thing comprised of four localish bands fighting for a place at the Ashevillian Bele Chere Festival. (Wednesday, June 23rd 7:00 PM, $5.00 at the door)
As well as those, they have just finished the process of finishing the mix on their Album, and it is being sent off to the big mixdown. New songs should be posted by July, along with the full album for download hopefully!
Not my stuff , but fellow members of the West Country Massive Farmer Glitch and Kek ( Ice Bird Spiral ) did a gig in Taunton , Somerset as Hacker Farm present Junkcrunch recently which sounded excellent.....recordings to follow. More on their new stuff by Loki on An Idiot's Guide to Dreaming blog. Sounds like a benign rural Throbbing Gristle.
My band Chemical Poets are doing a ten-night run of our spoken word show: TWENTY TENTACLE at this year's Edinburgh Fringe. Details here! Please come along if you're in town during August. The show will feature hip-hop, poetry, Lovecraftian weirdness, science fiction lovesongs... the light entertainment at the end of the tunnel.
Hello, everybody. My name's Mariano, I'm from Argentina and I'd like to introduce my band, Make Me Sick. We make a combination of stiles ranging from '80s New Wave and Gothic Dark Wave to a modern grunge/punk/black metal style, all with the particular touch of us three, the members of the band: Amrod Zeifer, on guitar and vocals; Miss Gina, on bass and vocals, and myself, Midgardsormen, on the drums. Not only we manage to build a weird style of music but we also create all kind of arts like literature in all its variants, theatre and any other visual expresion that might be enjoyable for intelligent people. OK, I'll stop ranting and let you do the honors by just listening to our music, which I humbly present to you. See you around. MAKE ME SICK
Warren's inclusion of my shit on the 4AM made me think, "maybe it's time to start a proper music page", seeing as I fucking hate MySpace (everyone knows about them deleting atheist accounts right? Everyone knows it's owned by NewsCorp right?) and I never use my page. So I made a little Bandcamp page the other day with my two EP's -- under the Mild Maynyrd moniker -- and a couple MF Doom and Aesop Rock remixes. Everything is totally free. If you want to donate, drop a sixpence into your local homeless guy's fiddle case next time you see him.
After going to Moon Wiring Club's guest dj spot at Joseph Stannard's excellent prog-psych-other night The Outer Church last month in Brighton, managed to get myself invited to be the guest dj this month ! Will be playing folk , prog , British electronic music and the theme music from Oliver Postgate programmes.
