God damn it. Apparently DiDio is trying to rock a sequel and/or prequels to Watchmen. From these articles, it seems as though Paul Levitz used to prevent this shit from happening all the time, but now that he's out of the picture it's FULL SPEED TOWARDS FUCKING UP PERFECTION!.

Do as Alan would and laugh at this and never read it once it's out... The original book is right there for when you want to read it.

If anything I am more shocked it took them this long to try it then them actually trying it at all.

This is going to be like a huge fanfiction story turned movie. I hope they have some multi-blue dick/Rorschach slash action planned.

I'm with Allen - I'm more surprised they haven't done any other Watchmen comics until now.

DC owns the property, and they can do with it what they want. No matter how good or bad it is, and no matter what they actually decide to do with it, it will do nothing to affect the quality of the original.

I hope it's an epic fuck up. DiDio makes me sick.

Finding someone to work on it will be interesting. It's not as cut and dried a thing as, say, working on an old Stan-and-Jack property.

Done well this could be awesome (particularly prequels, I'd love to see, for instance, a more detailed exploration of what made Rorschach into Rorschach). However the odds of it being done well are so vanishingly small that the very idea should be condemned and boycotted by all right thinking folk.

Watchmen 2? A Watchmen prequel or sequel? You keep putting those words together but surely you don't mean what I think you mean.

I'm hoping for a Jeph Loeb/Rob Liefeld team-up on this one. Rorschach could only be improved by having no feet, lots of pouches, and a huge-ass laser gun.

    What, lots of money?

To paraphrase: The comics industry is not only more crass and shameless than you imagine; it is more crass and shameless than you CAN imagine.

(I'd add a jpeg of Dr. Doom crying in the ruins of the Twin Towers, if I could be bothered to google it.)

Yeah, I don't see myself having anything to do with any projects that come from this. I don't care who writes/draws, this is just a thing that shouldn't be done.

Warren: Yeah, I'd love to see a list of people who will refuse to work on Watchmen-related properties.

Grant Morrison could have fun with it, hahahah.

    Hahahahahah.
