It reset itself to Moderate and Collapse Adult Content 24 hrs later.

this happens every fucking time LJ make a change to anything.

I wanted to keep using Xcolibur and had to change it 4 times.
I wanted to turn off snap.com and had to change it 3 times.

What is this snap.com thing everyone's talking about? I've totally missed it.

snap.com is a truly fucking horrendous service that provides previews of links in a little window when you mouseover them. Complete with an ad for something else underneath.

Livejournal decided it would be a great idea to switch this on on everyone's journal whether they wanted it or not.

i don't understand why a good old fashioned NWS lj-cut wasn't good enough for them, but they have to throw this mindless drivel of a warning on top of what might actually be a useful, informative description of something i may or may not want to subject my eyes to. based upon plain old human communication. the little strips of legalese are making my head hurt.

once i gave them a birth year it allowed me to choose the "do not collapse" option. it wouldn't let me do that without a birth year, however.
apparently 1896 is old enough for them.
(which just goes to show how this is all legal toilet paper anyway.)

Huh. I haven't noticed it. Maybe because I've got AdBlock running? *shrug*

It was turned off for me automatically. I didn't notice this until people started talking about it. My LJ client doesnt have the option YET...

Hey, eleventy-one year olds are perfectly on Livejournal. They wouldn't want to be accused of discriminating against hobbits.

I don't even have the option to not collapse - sure, I see the option, but it's greyed out. Rat bastards.

"It reset itself to Moderate and Collapse Adult Content 24 hrs later."

I'm also running Adblock and having no troubles from the 6A retrofit. A pattern emerges?

Alternative technique suggested by LJ user marchenland:

"1. Edit your profile: http://www.livejournal.com/manage/profile/?style=mine
2. Set your birth year to something more than 18 years ago
Note: If you're not comfortable with people seeing your age, set Show Your Birthday to Nobody.
3. Click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page.
4. Edit your Viewing Options: http://www.livejournal.com/manage/settings/?style=mine
5. Scroll down to the Adult Content section.
6. Set your Adult Content level for your journal.
Note: Most adults' LJs contain Adult Concepts (taxes, death, etc.) but I don't think LJ is talking about those things. Use your discretion.
7. Set Viewing Adult Content to Do Not Collapse.
8. Set Safe Search Filtering to Do Not Filter My Results.
9. Click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page.
10. All done. Never think of it again."

Best of luck, all.

Remember when Livejournal was...no, nevermind. It was never really that good. But we used it anyway.

YouPorn and XTube have very nearly eliminated my need to trawl LJ for amateur pornography. God bless the internet (2.0).

i did the fix mentioned up, and it seems to be fine for me. still a shit thing they're doing--i really gotta take my blog out of there soon.

insanejournal.com seems to be the preferred migration point for those sick of 6A's bollocks. Their Terms of use are clear and specific about adult content being welcome and unrestricted - and you can send your new IJ across to LJ as a RSS feed.

I'm having a time out until I can learn some manners.
I want disk space online so I can write some crap every so often, and make that crap look like I want it, is that so hard? Does it have to be about "community"? What the hell! They make it seem as if blogging is the act of buying booze for the underage. Hell, come to my house underagers, I WILL BUY YOU BOOZE!

I want to post nothing but biblical sex scenes until they fix this.
4. (78.17)
Well, if you don't want the community aspect, then LJ's no fucking use for you anyway, you're better off with a poxy blogspot or something.
5. (78.18)
In related news - 6Apart just announced they sold LJ to "SUP, an international media company".
Thread - plus usual appearance of the drama-llama - begins here:

6. (78.19)
OH... SUP are a Russian firm. That'll make application of US obscenity laws problematic...
http://www.sup.com/en/company.html

Russia is a big blogging country - and LiveJournal is now the Russian synonym for blog. But they've had their ups and downs, especially with right-wing nationalist groups posting beheading videos they made...

I'm having a time out until I can learn some manners.
I signed up with other services a few months ago after the big deletion episode, but kept the LJ because it was more well known and because a lot of my friends were there.

But hey! Wow! Yes! It's all very different now then eh?
