NO MORE PHOTO-MANIPULATION "art". I'll just delete them. People have been drenching recent threads with several pieces at a time that they've knocked out in photoshop in 2 minutes with no thought at all. I consider this to be taking the piss now.
No more than TWO submissions by any one person in any one REMAKE/REMODEL.
So here's the deal:
You are an artist/designer. You have to put together the cover for a comic called SUPERMAN. It is issue 1 of this book.
You have been told that Superman is a man who dresses predominantly in a shade of blue, and wears a red S symbol. You know nothing else about the character.
The cover must include a logo and the text THE COMPLETE STORY OF THE DARING EXPLOITS OF THE ONE AND ONLY SUPERMAN.
And that's it.
It's up to you what kind of company you're at. What kind of comics you make. How you translate that description of Superman. What era you're in. Who you are, even. Go nuts with it.
You have one week. Go.

I also like Muller's cover even if it's very scary (maybe because of that) but my favorite one has been painted by jamesmith3. That's a really pretty cover. I don't now why you think is predictable at all even if it could seem more classic, like mine.

@JSM: Don't take it personally; most of the regulars here have been posting work here for the last couple of years, and know what each other's strengths are and what they want to work on, hence why they comment on each other's work; it's an ongoing critique process. It took me a few months to start feeling confident to go toe to toe with some of the high-grade talent that frequents these forums.
This is the first we've seen of your work, and while you are encouraged to keep submitting, there's bound to be some "in the trenches" time for you (and any of the new posters) while we see how you work across a few weeks and a few more submissions. That's not meant to be exclusive of new people, but in any forum, people take a while to warm up to the new folks. Just like in real meat-space (to borrow an Ellis-ism). Just bring your A-game, keep submitting, and show us what you've got!]]>

I'm especially impressed with some of the ones that use typography (which I love) and abstract design (gushiguera, like many of the others, made me shiver).
And thanks to the artists who are learning the craft. I know what it's like to throw your work out there, so good on you for participating.
I've never found Superman to be that interesting a character, but these re-imagings make me wish DC would let some of these stories be written. The idea of stripping down the character (foreigner, invincible, wears an S somewhere) and turning a bunch of people loose on it sounds fascinating and exciting.

For this one I decided to be as literal to the instructions as possible and treat this as though I knew almost nothing, and keep it basic as possible - with maybe a slight bent for pulp he-man ...
This is a rare departure for me, since the lettering was done with Photoshop ( apologies for my meager selection of fonts, which is responsible for the disco factor ) which I usually never use.
Oh, I also decided this is the 'draw your own background' variant.
I think it's pretty clear that I played away from my strengths here with this one, and it shows. A designer, I am not.

So I didn't really have any super-original ideas, but I wanted to join in. So I just mashed the whole JLA into one Superman. I figured if you liked sci-fi, you'd do a sci-fi Superman, and if you liked cowboys, you'd maybe do a cowboy Superman. I'm way too into superheroes, so this is what happened. Superhero overload.
