ok folks... my last effort was just a thing i doodled for a friend to cheer him up and was a place holder... here is my ACTUAL effort... i am really REALLY happy with the look and idea.. and hope you all dig it.

    Oh that's good.

i've been watching and lurking for ages, and never found a idea i could settle on... the thing about this one was I HATE SUPERMAN... hate him, he is such a non character... nothing about him at the moment inspires me... so the idea to start again and re-imagine him.. well, it got me thinking...

I was going for a kind of Saul Bass idea... but some of the artwork on here did that sooooo much better than what i can do..
My fave list will be written soon...

@Rooth - Very nice! Cool call out to Action Comics #1 as well!

@sarianlives Ah, so refreshing to hear from a fellow Superman-ophobe. Can't stand him as a character either. This was a nice opportunity to start over, in a sense.

Already unbearably eager to see what the next one will be.
Will perhaps sketch some alternate versions to keep me occupied in the meantime.

There's also a mention in Robot6, but I'm too pissed with the pathetic nerd shitstains dropping their wise 'critiques' on the comments there to actually muster the strength to post the link here.

And Rooth, that's a great concept perfectly executed. Kudos!

Holy shit, Felipe, thanks for wielding the smackdown on the commenters at ROBOT 6. I took it as a piss take and commented to them myself, but you, good sir...

"It's always the saddest losers that drop the most biting "critiques". Paul did this for fun, and he's an excellent designer, which is more that could be said of any of you two, sore jackasses on a fucking comment thread."

    I feel so...loved.

That's something I don't get about fanboys in general... when I don't like something, I just don't say anything. But all over the internet there's a billion experts feeling entitled to humiliate and throw shit at other people. Is it just a reflex, they must blather what's on their mind on that second or else their mind will blow? Bah.

    Nevermind, on with the artwork!

@Felipe - I just read your reply to those smart-ass critics of Paul's submission on Robot6: you are, indeed, the superman of talkbackers, Felipe!

    Holy shit!!!
Lots of good stuff here, too much to even digest all of it. Welcome to the new folks, and good job everyone. I'll be finishing my pathetic attempt sometime today, and posting it.
I think someone needs to tell the commenters on Robot6 to put up or shut (the fuck) up.

Regarding those comments on Robot6 - I think maybe the funniest part of it is, those comments pissing on about how 'crap indy' it looks?

    a) seem only to have judged Sizer's post, as his was the image used there,
    b) not really understood the rules, and finally
    c) have a poor recollection of the cover of the original Action Comics #1. It's not fantastic.

@Paul Sizer - I hear tell that's just Felipe's natural pillow talk, the wonderful bastard that he is.

My Favorite Favourites so Far are Rooth's, Trippe'S and JSm'S Designs. Man, It's a shame we can't just go into DC or Marvel like they used to back in the Forties and be like "hey! I want a job!". Because If we could, man...I bet we would see a lot of each other at Work everyday. There is a ton of Great Stuff on Here. I'm super excited for the next Challenge. Maybe then I'll follow the rules alittle closer, or do some deeper character exploration.

I'm a bit late to the party, but here you go:

There's been some amazingly great stuff posted here!

And I don't know what indie comics that Robot6 commenter has been reading; there aren't too many books in whole with better design than that Paul Sizer riff!
  8.  (7801.19)
And take a look on this comment from de superman homepage: "Kind of funny that a writer came up with this concept, and yet his hypothetical situation doesn't make much sense from a writing standpoint. What kind of awful company would hire you to do a cover with only a vague description of the character?"
Stupid fuck didn’t get the rules either.
Anyway. Thanks Boss for the excellent idea. I can't wait to see the next challenges.
Favorite ones so far in order of appearance: Art Grafunkel, EstragonPanda, Paul Sizer, helloMuller, jamesmith3, Sobreiro, Jsm, Audley Strange, gushiguera, Raid71, DBed, Neil Ford, Rootfireember, deantrippe, Fernando Lucas, nanageddon, Rooth, Edwin and Leandro Damasceno.
Fuck its almost too many to mention.
Great to see so many new faces making great contributions either.

Okay, I've come to the realization that there's no way in hell I'm going to get this done, unless this thing is still up and running when I get back on Sunday. Time for a road trip.

Good work, everyone, this thread kicks ass.
