Well played, Neil... I had thought about doing a Nazi Superman using that exact same Schutzstaffel "S" as a symbol! Great concept.

    Superman From Krypton, WA
Here is My Second Pass. I Still went with the tights thing. I have really enjoyed the other, farther out interpretations of the character, but I gotta stay close to my roots with the Most Comic Book Hero of all time (No Matter What WIZARD MAgazine Says,Haha).

Ok, here's take two, because I hadn't done much work with the lettering

    The Superman

All reference to Will Miller or Frank Eisner is voluntary, if not compulsory.

This week has been for the most part truly great, very creative, and innovative. But, the ranting part of me still notes that some of our participants do not read the description of the topic very thoroughly.

    Ah, well. To bed, now.

Hey, KirbyPunch, you're new to the forum so you may not know this, Warren has a zero tolerance policy to people posting their fiction here, and that second paragraph of yours would constitute as a "Pen portrait", which could get the thread closed and you banned! So hurry and delete it, man, before Warren comes. With the Eels.

    Hi guys, I'm new.
Also, it seems a lot of people aren't getting the "know nothing else about the character" bit...

For this one I decided to be as literal to the instructions as possible and treat this as though I knew almost nothing, and keep it basic as possible - with maybe a slight bent for pulp he-man sensibilities, with a twist of disco.
This is a rare departure for me, since the lettering was done with Photoshop ( apologies for my meager selection of fonts, which is responsible for the disco factor ) which I usually never use.

Oh, I also decided this is the 'draw your own background' variant.

I think it's pretty clear that I played away from my strengths here with this one, and it shows. A designer, I am not.

( This thread is on fire - it's good to see so much new talent coming out too! )

@ Sobreiro... Thank you for the Heads up!!!! So that's what a pen portrait means.

    @Bluecheese
I would go farther out into the Depths, but that ground is already being covered, man. I strive to be different, even if that Difference is being the Same! Hahaha! But seriously, I didn't want to use Green, so out of the fours colours, only these were left...

Thom Marrion's second one, oliver84's, maxriffner's and Berserker's are the ones off the top of my head, but I agree with the others who've said this month's project is blistering.

Marrion's wins with the PE touch, oliver84's wins with it's understated bad-assery. maxriffner's and gushiguera's design kick ass, and Berserker, I can't believe you did alla that by hand (save your fonts/Photoshopping)! Bastard... Has a nice "self-published/underground" feel.

Thanks all who are playing this month for all of the eye-candy, and thanks as always to our hosts.

Since I suck at anything besides photomanip, I humbly request somone make "the daring exploits..." refer to hacker/cracker type exploits. Maybe a guy with a neckbeard in a messy room strewn with cables, on a unix shell logged in as "5up3rm4n".

Cleopatra Kent, my gender-bending superman? woman? Fighting crime and perceived gender roles with some fantastic hair and high heels.

As of yet unfinished. I have a design for the text and background but I won't be able to work on on it again till Saturday. I apologize Warren. I know I'm not quite meeting all of the requirements yet, but I might not finish it in time so I thought I'd put up what I have so far. I'm in school and I work, have mercy. And sorry to everyone who managed the time to finish their designs. People are putting some real effort into this one.
