The last two albums (Blemish and Manafon) are incredibly bleak and austere things that skirt avant garde when not full-on embracing it. I still haven't wrapped my brain around Manafon, but Blemish is incredible listening.<br /><br />ETA: Transference is very good. Stuck on repeat over here.]]>

They had to chage it when the US Dust Brothers (the ones who did the Fight Club OST) objected. So by the time they released their first major-label album, they were the Chemical Brothers (the album was called 'Exit Planet Dust').<br /><br />The Dust Brothers best-known work is probably the production on <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul&#39;s_Boutique" >Paul's Boutique</a>, the best out of the Beastie Boys albums. They have also worked with a huge range of other US artists, including the godawful Hanson.<br /><br />In another interesting aside, my band stole the UK duo's name: we are the <a href="http://www.myspace.com/thechemicalpoets" >Chemical Poets</a>.
