Turns out plain-old cheap non-invasive EEGs are sensitive enough to allow a computer to decode the mental signals for complex hand motions.
The first use is, as the article says, likely to be mind-controlled prostheses but beyond that we get stuff like mind-controlled computer games; completely non-physical systems for controlling smartphones and the like; remote-controlled rescue and combat robots etc.
Although the lack of senssory feedback may b a problem.
