Well, to the knowledge available to me, that release won't have the making-of extras I and we have done. The other releases that are available later this year will. Ultimately it's always the matter of the distributor what stuff will they include in their release, so it's impossible to know which release will include which stuff. I can say as the former producer of the stuff that there is a pretty great amount of interviews, materials etc. that can easily fill an another extra dvd, though, but this release won't have them because apparently they are not post-produced yet.

I'm little bit feeling like my two years worth of work is being shat on in here, but oh well - that's business and the old distribution paradigm of films for you.

Getting into the movie industry in just about every capacity is the nuttiest thing a sane person can do. You are WILLINGLY entering into the business/world of bullshit.

I used to be a drinking acquaintance with one of the writers on Iron Sky (from when I lived in Glendale) and I've been excited about this thing for what seems like ages now.

    The Brad:

    Hmm, who?

Working in movies was definitely an experience I wanted and loved to have. Not a career choice for me, though :) Maybe after the current system has been transformed to something a little more sane.

Michael Kalesniko, he lived in Glendale for a while and we drank at the same bars (JAXX being one). Really nice guy. Glad to see him working.

I, however, have been on the outskirts of the movie business for so long and just now finally finished my first film (shameless of me to mention, I know, forgive me I'm a proud parent) THE WOLFMAN'S HAMMER (available for free on YOUTUBE right now!). But even in my experience there is a lot of talk and a lot of promises made, and not a whole lot of follow through. Oh well, I still love the creative side of it enough to grit and bare the rest of it.

I've been waiting to see this for a while now and I think its going to be a blast.

Ah yes, Kalesniko is the only member of the team I've never actually personally met, we always happened to be on different continents or something :)

Hey, Iron Sky just got a mention on the Radio 4 News quiz, albeit in a brief, indirect fashion.

3 out of 5 star review in The Times today. Think they gave The Avengers, 3 stars a few weeks ago

@vornaskotti - I know I harp on about him but I listened to the Mark Kermode podcast last night and he did complain about the release: he said he was baffled by it and said that it "...deserved better but, hey, I'm not a distributor". It sounded quite pointed (while covering the show's back with that "Hey...") to my ears.

Unfortunately, it looks like the UK will have to just do as we always bloody do and bury our heads.
    Sorry sir, we suck.

That's because it hasn't been released in the US yet, IIRC. Now as to when that might happen, I have no idea.

    munin218:

Yep, it's still coming to US, the film has a distributor there. I don't know the dates yet.

Today we got an email from a owner of a legendary Prince Charles Cinema in London, who has been trying to book more showings from Revolver for Iron Sky without success. After already having sold out three screening, mind you. Here’s what he had to say:

“We have been amazed by the interest in Iron Sky, having sold out two performances in only a few days we ended up putting a third late evening screening on due to the fact we are only allowed to show the film for one day theatrically. It’s such a shame as we feel there is huge audience out there wanting to see the film on a Cinema screen. Hopefully we will be able to change the film distributors attitude and get them to allow us to screen the film for a run in the near future.”

Iron Sky selling out screenings in the UK – Revolver still refusing a proper cinema release

    This part here is important:

Because Revolver is not doing their job, we need to find another way. For this, it would be ideal to know directly the demand from the theaters. So, here’s a new assignment for those who want to help: contact your local film theater and ask them to extend the cinema release from Revolver, and if Revolver refuses, we would be happy to be informed of that.

    ...

Oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Attempts to email Revolver end (apart from one email with just one word in the subject and body) result in the awful:

Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 5.7.1 Message rejected as spam by Content Filtering. (state 17).

They've been handing out leaflets at kapow this weekend advertising the DVD release as being 28th may. Personally I'm really disappointed as there is nowhere locally (within even 40miles) even showing it on the single day & the local Odean tells me that they requested a print due to audience demand to be told there were no more available, and no digital stream either.
  11.  (7899.17)
No prints or no digital available? That sounds, uh, somewhat implausible.

Iron Sky is great and it's a real shame most British people won't get the opportunity to see it in the cinemas.

Hopefully it will do fucking great in cinemas everywhere else and Revolver will look like a pack of twats.
