Professor Imagine: "he did left Kirk live, when he could have killed him, but then he did shoot KK out of the sky... knowing she'd survive..? "

That's how you know he's just a hypocritical bastard.

I'm just glad Arkady finally realized she didn't have to touch someone to teleport them, given that she'd already done it before (episodes 54 and 55). :)

I think Luke let Kirk live so that he could show how superior he is and be a smug bastard. I don't think he had any sentimental reason for it, and I don't even think it was to keep them from killing him. I think it was purely so he could wave it in their faces, and make himself feel better than them. Based on what we've seen of his personality, I don't think he believes they'd actually kill him in the first place, so it was purely a posturing move to make him look more advanced and civilized than them.

When she did it without realising she'd done it.

Good afternoon Whitechapel,

Whooph! Just what i needed to pick me up after another busy week. Drove through bits of Whitechapel twice today in the course of my travels around the city in a little white lorry. Saw a couple of people in different places with serious looking cameras, anyone been out snapping today?

Mark's expression on p4 and 'I'm sorry'. Yes, i bet you are sonny.

Another blinder of an episode, my profuse thanks to Mr Ellis and the gang for this most wonderful entertainment.

Getting some serious payoff for weeks of cliffhanger.

Love the sequence from pages 3 to 6 where Mark transforms from snarling bad-guy to little boy terrified

Freakangels - best thing in my life this week

I have to admit, it's pretty shocking to see both Luke AND Mark dealt with in the space of two episodes - especially after so much building up of tensions...of course, the question now is, what ARE they doing to Mark right now? Will they just turn him to jelly, or do something more 'merciful'?

I'm especially interested in seeing where the story goes after this, especially now that both Mark and Luke seem to be done. What will the remaining ten do?

... and the payoff. Just so sweet...

When she did it without realising she'd done it.

Eek! (ELLISOTAKUMODE="on")Hey, Mr. Ellis. Big fan!(ELLISOTAKUMODE="off") I'd argue that'd cover episode 54, when she drops Kait into the river, but not 55, when she brings her back at Miki's urging. Heck, Miki and Kate both should've noticed.

But that's part of why I love this series- the characters are realistically oblivious to both their actions and the consequences thereof. :)

Since Connor is sort of the flight data recorder/black box of the 'angels, I'm assuming keeping him from where he may be physically harmed is probably a good idea. Even if he's not there, he knows what's going on.

Shit goes up, shit comes down. Tip'o'the hat to Messrs. Ellis and Duffield for consistently great writing and art; story, characters, and settings.

It's old-Vespa-buying-inspiring weather in SF.CA.US. Haven't have one since '81. Yes, I actually do want something smaller than a motorcycle.

I'm named Mark; just filled out the US Census form to remind me of that. I did a quick web-search for bad guys named Mark. Really didn't find much. Not to change the thread, but know of any others? They seldom seem to have that name, or 'Betty,' or 'Tim.'

@mc2 don't forget the infamous Mark O'Cain ...

Just watched the very strange 3 part film based on the 20th Century Boys manga - so I'm feeling a touch concussed. And very confused ...

This was exciting. Luke and now Mark? Am in awe. Who'll take their place?

Just read it again and realized Mark was looking RIGHT AT KARL when he went boom.

God I love this comic.

Whoosh. }:>

No time to read everyone's responses. As usual I'm running late because Friday midday for me is like most people's first thing Monday morning. I have a LOT to do and I'm not really eager to do it. Also i'm fucking poor and it's pissing me off. Don't know how I'm going to pay my bills. I'm probably not; I'm probably going to have to borrow more money. Ugh. I have to remind myself to relax my jaw so I quit grinding my teeth.

For all that I have a sneaking suspicion that I would take to an office job with all the joy of a cat caught in a lawn with automated sprinklers. Sucks but I need money. And I'm largely waterproof.

And another one bites the dust...
Or does he?
Things have been going a bit too well for the "Good" freakangels.
But my aren't they quick to kill off their former comrades?
Surely these decisions won't have any negative consequences.

Heh. Ellis' bad guy slapdowns are always a joy to read. Only this one looks like Mark will be slapped down so hard his head will be coming out of his asshole.

So where will the story go from here? Will the remaining Freakangels tell the surviving humans that heh, they trashed the world? Was the rainstorm artificially created, and if so, who created it? If Mark did it, he didn't seem to notice that it had been forcibly cleared up. Will the Sirkka and Jack relationship crash and burn given recent events? Will Arkady discover that the package allows one to alter a few alcohol molecules to create at least 80 proof whiskey?

That aside, my week has been in transition. The state tax beast has been fended off for another year. A personnel shakeup at my workplace has left me nervously wondering what's next. I'm squeezed between trying to have some semblance of a non-work life and being reminded that a train seat is not that great a substitute for a nice warm bed.
