Still playing the supplemental stuff.

Then I got sidetracked by the discovery that Damon & Naomi (G500 bassist and drummer, went solo after Wareham broke up the band) have got a nice deal on the digital versions of 4 of their albums from their website - 20 dollars for apple lossless with mp3 320k versions thrown in. 4 albums, including With Ghost, as part of a deal where you get the digital version of the Sub Pop Years compilation.

Damon & Naomi are.... interesting. Nice, but not sure yet whether it'll evolve past background listening for me.

 @agitpunkt-

Pleasantly surprised to find myself into 'em. I've never been big on Autechre-- prob'ly because I started off on Richard D. James & found the overall sound of Autechre (if not style) too similar. That teen opinion's been washed away with 'Oversteps', though. It's a nice mid-ground between ambient & electro, largely percussive yet persuasively structured. Kinda haunted, in places; more synth than Mt. Vernon Arts Lab, but sharing the same psychic turf, I feel. The illusory but accomplished acoustics make me think of Microstoria's 'Invisible Architecture 3'...

 @joe.distort:

The transition from Black Eyes to Sex Worker, for example. Go from 'Cough' to 'Labor of Love'-- you might as well be smoking meth in a hot tub of cold tar. Messy & ineffectual recreation.

Not your b-side scenario, but the same problem, methinks. The Sex Pistols / PiL pendulum. "We can't be young & angry anymore, so let's be artists!" It's more an abreaction than actual experimentation. (Not to diss 'Metal Box', I'm just floundering for decent analogies.)

If only more of 'em would go off the reservation the way Fugazi did, integrating their varied & dissonant ideas into a whole album...

 @joe.distort

Something tells me that i need to listen to a band called NAZI DUST

Today i was listening to the following...
Dum Dum Girls - I Will Be: one of the latest offerings from Sub Pop, It´s probably a sign that i´m moving out of winter and into music that more lighter and breezy. Sound very poppy, low-fi with a 60´s all girl beat group feel....

Vex'd - Cloud Seed: As HelloMuller and Ales Kot were going on about it. I found some of it ok, but i don´t know, it doesn´t seem to be grabbing me.
