Well that's an interesting idea. All fictions being equally fictitious and all, what do you suppose would happen if Ry'Leh were to rise during the events of Supergod? Would Krishna run off to kick Cthulhu in the head? Would he and Morrigan have squidfungus babies? Would he politely rap them all on the head and go back to sleep? Would another, currently-Supergodless country try to harness his power? I feel some pretty good possibilities here.
I think I infected you all with my stupid. I am sorry. Continue being awesome Warren. Maybe the giant penis made out of people should have been a womb, I dunno, lol.
From the get go, SuperGod's been a comedy. Mind you, a comedy with some very interesting ideas in it, but still it is funny business.
The only "deconstructive" (or destructive?) take on super-heroes that appealed to me was "Planetary". Super Hero comics in general just aren't for me, so seeing a genre kicked around felt kind of in-jokey when I saw it elsewhere. But Planetary, like Supergod, had solid footing in terms of ideas, story, and yeah, comedy.
If you're looking for a dialogue on Atheism and the meaning of meaning and all that, Epicurus and Umberto Eco are great reads too. Supergod is all good fun.
i am now caught up on this (after a few other series that had some hiccups in shipping, i have become a lil bit cautious to grab some indie minis immediately) and its really good.
the rambling style and crazy ideas suck you in and it leaves a lot to think about after you are done.
