Going to see this on Saturday at the SVA Theatre. The book was lovely, and I've been waiting for the film for a good five years. The English cast is so-so, though. Jack and Acacia are fine, but Madeline and Joe are way too young-sounding. I wish they were showing the original French cast with subtitles.

There's a man in the woods

Pretty great for a students film.

TOTEM by Caleb Wood (vimeo). Short but beautifully animated and completely mesmerising.

That reminds me, he was also part of the Late Night Workers Club animation collective GHOST STORIES. Some really incredible stuff. Alex Grigg and Charles Huettner's films are personal highlights.

Also, you need to be watching Ping Pong, the new anime series by Masaaki Yuasa (Mind Game), based on the manga by Taiyo Matsumoto (Tekkonkinkreet).
    Here's the trailer.

    Trust me, it's the greatest.

Space Dandy is back this week with its best episode. Parallel Space Dandy worlds accessible through stray cosmic hairs being pulled. It's shades of FLCL.

Arrgghhh Just when I'm out of town for several weeks. I enjoyed the first several eps, loads of madness and self-aware storytelling.

He's a dandy guy... in space.

    HULLABALOO

Love love love the character designs.

Unfortunately I don't have much in the way of disposable income at the moment, so backing at a level that would get me rewards that I want isn't possible :(

But their Indiegogo seems to be doing alright, doubled their goal with 26 days to go.

    I AM SIMPSON!!!!

@TF - I wish The Simpsons would play with their style and format within the show like they do in the couch gags.

    @ William Joseph Dunn

I do too, but I suppose I can't blame the Simpsons for being a sit-com and for not being Ren and Stimpy - and Ren and Stimpy jumped to mind because that couch gag felt like a moment of weirdness that we used to get 90's.

Maybe when (if) as the show starts to draw close to cancellation they'll have a "we don't give a fuck" year and just push madness! In the man time I suppose The Treehouse of Horror's, couch gags and the odd drug/food induced sequence are a fair compromise.
