Nick Cross just released another short!:

Also a new video of Disney legend Walt Peregoy (he painted the background for 101 Dalmatians) has surfaced:

    "Walt Disney was a shit!"

Hilariously as angry as he is talented:

I loved that the Skeleton Fight clip included the Wilhelm Scream.

At the risk of being a self promoting twat, here's the first trailer for the DC Animated DTV "Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox" which I worked on (the coolest stuff isn't even in the trailer!):

I colorscripted the entire movie. We're all really happy how the finished movie came out and I think it's the best looking DTV we've ever done.

I've been trying to find some animation clips that I thought were published on this thread awhile back, but they seem to have been deleted. The story involved a girl who was smuggling some kind of alien entities by hiding them in the bodies of small patchwork dolls. Robotic police with brains in glass-jar heads come breaking into her hideout and she goes on the run. There's more, but if you know the video, you probably already know what I'm describing. It was very darkly lit anime that looked like it had been rotoscoped. Every time this thread pops up on the board, I come looking in hopes that I find the links to the two clips that I thought were originally here.
If anyone can identify the video, I'd appreciate it greatly.

Peter Gabriel's video offerings from the mid 80's helped make MTV into the massive entertainment juggernaut it once was.

Stumbled on to this one at Kotaku: Animation Tutorial Part 1

I can't believe I haven't mentioned Koji Yamamura yet. He's coming to the Melbourne International Animation Festival in a couple of weeks, so I may have to obsessively go to everything he's speaking at and any screenings of his stuff.
    Mt Head
    Franz Kafka's A Country Doctor
Also, I just discovered Erika Russell the other day (only about 20 years late). She's incredible.

    more Robert Valley goodness:

edit: UURGH!!! I hate when this thing won't embed the video!

@William Joseph Dunn - Don't worry, vimeo never embeds here. Robert Valley is a freak. Love his stuff.

And now for something completely different. I've been seeing some pretty incredible Chinese animation recently, mostly from fine artist who use animation as their medium. This surreal pastel animation by Wang Haiyang is pretty much the only one I've been able to find online and is somewhat representative. Double Fikret is great too if you can track it down.

The craziest I've seen is a 15min woodblock animation (literally carved into the wood like linocut) by Sun Xun called "Some actions which have not been defined yet in the revolution". Just mind boggling if you ever get a chance to see it.

I promise next time I'll post more actual videos...

Can't figure out how to imbed with Vimeo so:

This is more than 10 years old, but I only found out about it recently :

Inspired by this French comic from the late 1960's.

Know it's been mentioned before, but I recently found my DVD box set of Aeon Flux (one of the best things to come out of that horrible movie) and am enjoying the hell out of it.

I thought i'd imagined this but after a bit of hunting about it turns out i didn't. Though after watching it again nearly thirty years after i first saw it, i'm beginning to think perhaps i did...

@oldhat - Yes! I grew up on Aeon Flux and The Maxx. They're pretty much what made me want to become an animator.

@roadscum - Fantastic! I was watching that, thinking "This reminds of that weird Karl Marx & Marilyn Monroe animation I was shown a couple of years back. I should find that and post it." Got to the credits only to realise they were made by the same person, Estonian animator Priit Parn. So here's Karl and Marilyn, along with a few of his other shorts.

This might be one of the most beautifully animated trailers I've ever come across:

    The Garden of Words

Makoto Shinkai rarely fails to please either.

Garden of Words- absolutely beautiful animation, but it's got the problem (in the trailer, at least) that most anime today does. I don't recognize much in the way of any human being I've ever known in any of the characters.

/goes back to watching Maison Ikkoku for the first time
