Of all the names that have been suggested here, the title that most excites me is Warren Ellis' Cloak and Dagger. Yeah, they are still showing up semi-regularly, so it probably doesn't meet the idleness criteria. But I can still dream.
And to preserve the fucked-in-the-headedness: another vote for Forbushman. Or maybe Obnoxio the Clown.
The High Evolutionary. Except for an abandoned city that was recently levitated in FF, he's pretty much inactive. And nobody writes him correctly, either - he's a man of SCIENCE!, and Mr. Ellis could have a field day with his futurism and positivism.
Wundarr, The Aquarian - updating him for the modern age would be a challenge. Or not - an unreconstructed hippie, unaware that the times have moved on, a super-powered Chauncy Gardener.*
The Beyonder was mentioned, but bears a second look, especially after /Supergod/. So powerful, so over the top, there's nothing good to do with him. Ideally, with his 80's jeri-curl and white suit intact. Hell, reboot the entire Secret Wars concept.
And I'd totally buy a Franklin Richards/Power Pack reboot. --- * - crap, I see he was used in a throwaway manner during The Initiative. And also the bit about Steve Gerber losing control of the character. Still, he was dead for a while, so might be an opportunity for a relaunch.
I'd really like to see you do something with some b-list villains, except this time they are not working for the man, they are trying to make some cash or get moola to do their real project. They always fail, but it would be fun to see them scheme to try and make the big time and see it from their point of view, especially after it crashes.
A Warren Ellis story set in the Mojoverse would also be fun to read.
Gullivar Jones. My god. I'd forgotten all about that one.
I think a big round of applause to Ken Miller for the first suggestion to catch Warren by surprise!
Another non-NEXTWAVE reader. This is why the book died.
How can you say such things! It's not dead! It went to live on a farm where it can run and play with Joss Whedon's Firefly! I've got it! Add the NextWAVE theme song to Whitechapel Radio! Remind everyone out there thet "NextWAVE is love"!
You hear that you bastards? LOVE!!! And as we all know: "Love is all you need" and NextWAVE is love. Therefore: all you need is NextWAVE!
This thread is hilarious. I don't know Marvel for shit, or really much of any comics other than done by small number of writers. But I'm reading each entry because Warren's responses awe-inspiring.
See, Warren? You needn't worry about a title that will sell, some of us will read anything you put down. It's all about you, you cranky bastard, all about you.
Kree characters- Korath the Pursuer or Ronan the Accuser. I'd love to see you pick up with Marvel Boy where Grant's superb mini-series left off, but Bendis has taken a shine to him as of late and has fully integrated him into the Avengers.
Shi'ar Death Commandos or the Imperial Guard.
An En Sabah Nur Apocalypse story set through different historical periods.
Exiles (Russian mutant underground)
Boss Barker (Skrull posing as a mobster/slave-trader)
Chastity McBryde
Count Bornag Royale
The Mad Thinker's Fyodor Dostoyevsky robot.
Adam Able- "Adam was well versed in the field of robotics, and had under his control a number of robots that were disguised as chairs. He could pass himself off as human by wearing a mask."
I guess I shouldn't be surprised at how little Whitechapel pays attention to the current Marvel continuity, versus how much they know about obscure Marvel characters of the past.
Suffice to say, the majority of characters in here either are now, just were, or are about to be on one of Bendis's Avengers teams. With the exception of the space ones who are all stuck in War of Kings whatnot. Bendis has taken over just about anyone he thought was vaguely interesting, from Power Man on down.
